Web surfing and MSN Messenger both require to to subscribe to data services such as GPRS (for GSM Phones) or 1xRTT (for CDMA Phones).

There is an extra charge for data which can be a flat monthly fee or per megabyte...depending on your Carrier.

There is also the option to use dial-up services using your own ISP which would use your phone minutes. Your data connection would be at a much slower speed with this option.

Check with your carrier to see which plans are available for you.
