Guest jerrycutshaw Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Does anyone know if M$ has plans to ever offer a smartphone build of Microsoft Money? I have tried the PPC version (yes I know I shouldn't have) and it didn't work. I can't find anything on google or M$ website talking about it.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 I read on the newsgroups that Neil Enns says that MS has no plans on making a version of Money for the Smartphone. I cant see why not....The user interface would work just fine on the Smartphone. I would also like to see PocketStreets. Keep your fingers crossed. maybe a developer will create their own version.
Guest Pondrew Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 I use Microsoft Money alot and have done for years. When I got the SPV a year ago the first thing I did was look for a Smartphone version. Never found it obviously. I guess now we'll never get one (at least, not until certain people start taking Smartphone seriously).
Guest genius Posted October 4, 2004 Report Posted October 4, 2004 I have a motorola mpx200 - is there any good applications out there that are goog for managing your money/accounts i take it MS Money never surfaced on the Smartphone ....sorry if this is an obvious question but i did try searching the site for the answer (hence why i dragged up this old post) :?:
Guest chucky.egg Posted October 4, 2004 Report Posted October 4, 2004 There was a recent post about a 3rd party app that manages bank accounts etc (well, manages the info, not how you spend your money!) I can't remember the name of it. Have a browse through this forum (Software - Applications) and the News forum
Guest Pondrew Posted October 4, 2004 Report Posted October 4, 2004 You're right Chris. I think it's called Fizz Finance. I myself was really hoping for Microsoft Money (is that so much to hope for, given there's been a Pocket PC version for ages?!)
Guest phAn Posted October 4, 2004 Report Posted October 4, 2004 I would also like to see PocketStreets.PocketStreets IS available for the smartphone! See here: http://www.microsoft.com/mappoint/pocketst...ne/default.mspx I have it running on my c500 smartphone. It works, a little slow perhaps. I think mapopolis is better, especially because it supports navigation.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 FYI...FizzFinance sold the app and it is now call XS Finance. A search here should pop it up.

I myself was really hoping for Microsoft Money (is that so much to hope for, given there's been a Pocket PC version for ages?!) Sorry, thought you might have missed it. I know what you mean about the lack of MS apps. What does it say about MS/smartphone that they're not porting these apps?
Guest Andy@XCite Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 XS Finance will be available on the 9th October 2004. The Beta version was available to download but has now been removed. When available, the release version can be downloaded from the website and will be fully functional for 14 days. Please feel free to email me should you have any questions/product enhancements etc... Regards. Andrew [email protected]

Guest Pondrew Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 I know this is a bit off topic but im interested in using Microsoft money ,Ive had it for a long time but never used it ,Is it a secure app to use with putting in all of your details,Thanks Well, I've found it essential. You can make Microsoft Money secure by turning on password protection. One thing you need to be aware of though is that Microsoft Money takes effort, not many banks allow downloading of statements directly into it so be prepared to manually key in all your account and transaction details!
Guest Andy@XCite Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 The release version of XS Finance is now available to download from www.xcitesoftware.com
Guest bartsimp Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 Sorry to ask but is there any alternative, or is it the only personal finance software available on this plaform?
Guest PPCPassion Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 [sorry to ask but is there any alternative, or is it the only personal finance software available on this plaform?] Hey Bartsimp: Try a very nice finance Manager called Keep Track 2.1 by iliumsoft. You can check out their website at www.iliumsoft.com. It also has import/export capability with MS Money And Quicken. Regular version cost approx $15 and their is a pro version $25. Go to their website and see which version is better for you. Hope this helps.
Guest bartsimp Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 thank for your answer, will give it a try.
Guest bobstammers Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 Egg.com operate a service called egg money manager. This will log on to all your accounts (from other banks and credit cards providors) to give you a snapshot of your current worth (or - worth as the case may be). Does anyone if this will run on the MPx200? I have asked Egg and here is their reply: "Egg Money Manager is currently only available to PC users running Microsoft Internet Explorer. When using Money Manager your online security details are safely stored using Microsoft ActiveX, to ensure they cannot be accessed by anyone else. Microsoft ActiveX is only compatible with Internet Explorer on PC?s. We've undertaken detailed research and believe that ActiveX provides the best solution for the needs of this product. Unfortunately, until a suitable alternative to ActiveX is available then access to Money Manager will be limited to PC users of Internet Explorer." What I really want to know is, is it right that activex is not compatible with MPx200 and if not is there an alternative to this finance manager? Cheers. Bob.
Guest Pondrew Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 I use both Egg Money Manager and Microsoft Money. I'd actually say they're not direct substitutes for each other as I often use Egg Money Manager THROUGH Microsoft Money to easily download my statements. Aside from providing quick access to all your online accounts Egg Money Manager doesn't do anything else whereas Microsoft Money gives a wealth of info. Unfortunately I'd be very surprised if Egg Money Manager worked on Pocket Internet explorer as very few internet banking sites do.

I wish buy it but it's more expensive ....
Guest markgamber Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 There is a suitable alternative to activex and it's called .net. ActiveX is a development API, not an application, and, I believe, all smartphones most certainly do support it, although not to the degree of desktops. Only 2003 (or better) smartphones support .net. ActiveX provides a standard interface so objects can be used from within any application that supports said interface, such as IE, Visual Basic and so on. An example of Windows CE support of ActiveX is CE Basic...I know, I've written a number of ActiveX objects for Windows CE. So what they really mean, I'm guessing, is that the API doesn't have the depth they need, they don't know how to port their code from one platform to the next or they don't care enough to actually do it. Not that this information does anything to help but it does make it pretty obvious that your reply must have come from the marketing department.
Guest bobstammers Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 Thanks for your replys everyone. I think i'm going to try out xs finance for now and wait for technology to catch up with what I want to achieve. I'll let you know how I get on. Bob.
