Guest Pagemakers Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Well Ive had my e200 for two days and my phone has just lost all its T9 saved text. What a pile of shite. How could this not be sorted after everything we have said over the past year  Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Oh man, that sucks... ANOTHER one to raise with Orange... P
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 That is pathetic. I dont use T9 so Im not too bothered, however that just shows complete and utter laziness on Oranges part  Is it possible ALL these little bugs could be fixed within an update ? spacecowboy
Guest Emad Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 A picture can convey a thousand words:
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 I sincerely hope this is not going to be another case of "here we go again".... I send emails all the time and my employment means I use a vast array of "non-standard" words so, a saved T9 dictionary is very important to me. The T9 bug has been discussed at length literally thousands of times here and elsewhere. There is not one millimetre of forgiveness for this major flaw not to have been fixed. I can only hope it was a one off glitch or else poor 'Mr O' is going to receive a severe bending from me.
Guest Bouger Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 did you take the battery off ??
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 Possibly - surely that shouldn't loose T9?
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 Just removed my battery now for 5 mins now and the text stayed remembered. As a matter of interest is it possible to remove a word from the T9 directory? I have mis-spelled something in mine. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest mattie01 Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 how do u add text to the t9 dir?
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 They are added when you you type unknown words using abc mode Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 This is totally unacceptable. My phone has just lost all the words for the second time. They worked last night. All I did was to go to sleep! Now the text has totally reset this morning. What a totally totally totally useless pathetic attempt at fixing a bug. You have failed miserably! Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest benzo Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 I get delivery of my e200 on Tuesday, and am beginning to doubt my choice of phones. I really thought that they would have sorted the T9 issue out. My Nokia 3210 back in the day had better text functionality.. Orange.. WTF are you doing? How can you release an advanced phone based on a mad operating system, yet neglect the simple things we all want? Did you do this to force e200 users to upgrade to the next planned phone that may or may not have a working T9?
Guest spacemonkey Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 One question pagemakers, do you purge all the sent items from your pocket outlook? I have a suspicion that for the extended T9 dictionary that the spv has extra words that represent things you have typed in sms's that are still on the phone, ie in sent items (maybe in inbox as well?) This isn't confirmed but is just the feeling I have from my SPV and I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same in 2k3.
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 I have never emptied the sent items on any phone I have ever owned.
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 And it gets worse. It's been 2 fuc***g hours since my phone lost all its T9 stuff. I have entered my words all again, not messed with anything else on my phone and hey presto all my words have just gone again. It's pathetic
Guest Emad Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 Maybe you have a dud forgetful phone. Try sticking a whole heap of T9'd words in a message and saving it as a draft. See if it remembers then - it should crosscheck and remember them. If not, get a replacement.
Guest MARKUKCOUK Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 yeah its funny how its just you with problems so far pagemakers - maybe time to start looking at your phone rather than all E200's no offence but im hoping - nay praying its just a fault with your phone!
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 I hope so. We have 2 here so time will tell.
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 I wonder if the fact that I have unlocked my phone is part of the reason for the T9 losses? Before I unlocked T9 was fine. I know Paul has an unlocked phone and he has suffered T9 loss.
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 Just had to hard reset. T9 was being lost every 20 mins or so! If this doesn't fix it, it's going back tomorrow for a replacement.
Guest Simon Desser Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 I've just noticed my saved words have gone  So it's not Pagemaker's phone ;) All I've done is rebooted? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Oh fantastic, so I have just hard reset for nothing. As a matter of interest Simon was your phone app unlocked via the orange developers site?
Guest Simon Desser Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Oh fantastic, so I have just http://smartphone.MoDaCo.com/viewtopic.php?p=97945#97945>Hard Reset for nothing. As a matter of interest Simon was your phone app unlocked via the orange developers site? Yeah, it has been unlocked by the Orange developer's site :?
Guest Bouger Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 i just wondered thats all most phones tend to loose their t9 memory if you take the battery off
