Guest Rob.P Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 Another small bug on my phone or I think it is a bug anyway, prehaps the phone is supposed to do this I don't know. When I have been oon GPRS the G symbol will not go away, can't end the GPRS call by pressing the end call button either, tried holding it down and repeated pressing but still not going away. Is this a prob do you rekon or not much to worry about just keep an eye on my GPRS usage on the next bill?
Guest Simon Desser Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003  I reckon this is going to be the most asked question initially ;) Press and hold down the Home button, then hit Disconnect GPRS :(
Guest Rob.P Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 ahhhhhhhhhh I see said the blind man  I think your right can, I am I the first? Do I get a prize (besides a dunce cap) ;) thanks [edit] what does "detach GPRS" do?[/edit]
Guest shadamehr Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003  I reckon this is going to be the most asked question initially ;) Press and hold down the Home button, then hit Disconnect GPRS :( Simon, Given your knowledge, can you tell me, is there any way to add to the items shown in the Quicklist? Seems daft not to be able to... Any idea?
Guest Rob.P Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 Besides bumping this up and wanting to know the answer to shadamehr's post, I'm still wondering about the "Detach GPRS" option, anyone know what it does?
Guest martin Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Besides bumping this up and wanting to know the answer to shadamehr's post, I'm still wondering about the "Detach GPRS" option, anyone know what it does? Every time you turn the phone off you complete a IMSI detach to the GSM network and a GPRS detach to the GPRS network. I assume this function allows you to GPRS detach while keeping the phone on. GPRS detach will set the Management Mobility state to IDLE in the Serving GPRS Support Node and during this time there will be no RA/CELL updating, Paging, PDP contexts, etc... Oh and the permanent GPRS Internet connection looks to be a good thing

Consequently, a lot of replies are of course in a foreign language... Seriously though, cheers Martin. It makes a degree of sense to me.
Guest AJConroy Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 When the G symbol is on, it is not actually costing you anything is it? I assume - and hope - you only pay when data is transferred not to keep the connection open. Please reassure me!
Guest MECX Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 yeh man dont pay for the time your on GPRS only data transfered---it must autodisconnect after a period of time tho:?
Guest Brody Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 yeh man dont pay for the time your on GPRS only data transfered---it must autodisconnect after a period of time tho:? I have not had my GPRS auto-disconnect on my e200 but I have not left it for long enough to find out. Ukpauls has informed me that his GPRS has turned itself off before but we are not sure if this has more to do with the lack of GPRS signal as a result of problems that Orange told us they were having?
Guest MECX Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 maybe someone with a GPRS traffic counter (and an E200) could say if it uses any GPRS traffic (it must send a heartbeat of some sort?)
Guest gpspassion Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 GPRS is not time based so that should be fine. Having said that I would love to be able to get Imeter to work on my E200 to verify that for myself... While Imeter launches ok, I can't see to access any data it might be logging
Guest gpspassion Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 Oopss...you might want to be careful about disconnecting GPRS, I launched an IE session and it seems to have dialed over the good old TIME BASED GSM network ?!
