Is it possible to play N-Gage games on the Smartphone? Does anyone know's howto? Or is there a emulator to play the games? It would be great if you could play the games. It is possible on the Siemens SX1, so I thought maybe also on the Smartphone  .

siemens sx1 uses the same core os as the ngage, thats why the games work

so in answer to your question, no, ngage games wont work on the smartphone, but that doesnt mean it doesnt have the power to actually do it if someone makes the games from scratch

If you want Sonic, theres a cracking version on the neo geo pocket colour, so if someone could convert an emulator to smartphone, we'd be game-on!

Sorry, did I say Neo Geo? I must have meant the Neo Geo Pocket Color, the handheld console released a couple of years back that had less power than the original gameboy.

I guess your right though, smartphone couldn't emulate one of these.

Sorry, nobody can code an emu, cause Sonic runs in native Symbian OS 60 code.

I disagree. take a look at the GP32. It's a 133MHz arm-based console which can emulate the SNES, SMS, GENESIS, NEO GEO, Etc.

The Smartphone scene just needs some talented developers.

what we need is the developers here to concentrate there talents on the emulators, which will then open up the games market for the spv. atleast for retro. and while were all sitting pretty with snes, megadrive and gamegear and more on the spv. they can concentrate on new projects. but it seems the developers are unable or unwilling to push themselves past crappy puzzle games. although im sure like me you all appreciate they work done so far. and we understand the depths of whatg is needed to port a emul. surely it would be great to see such things on our wonderful phone so we can stick it to the n gage and others.

so here are my want list for emuls, perhaps u all have ur own

amstrad 464

faster snes emul

mame (which i have running frogger on my phone already)

megadrive

gamegear

lynx

virtualboy

neo geo handheld

that certainly aint true, and i'm sure many developers like ourselves are doing games other than puzzlers, which take time and effort to make into good games. Emulators do not interest game developers, why should they, we want to create original content, and also make games that pay the bills, something emulators cannot (well unless you make an emulator then sell it, which is a big undertaking)

Midnight I fully agree, the lack of variety in standalone games is no fault of the developers, its due to the lack of developers on what is still an underground scene.

Once the userbase increases so will the number of people tinkering about with their phones.

Cant noffin but disagree with that the developers doesn't try to make good games..

After seeing and hearing about some of the stuff midnight, muff and croccy22 are doing atm im looking forward to the future releases.. (even though its a little hard to get them to talk sometimes :) hehe)

But have patience, and i can almost promise you some great games next year. :D

Do you realise how much of a geek you sound like in that post? Next you'll be telling us all how far you got in Robot Wars.

Obviously the neo geo pocket was marginally better than the gameboy, it came out 10 years after it. The point I was making was that the smartphone should be able to emulate it quite easily.
