Guest sweetyls Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 i did a search and the only solution provided was to create IPSMApplication DataSounds (which i already did way before)... anyway, was wondering why some wav files can be played on my sap while the others can't. i use activesync to transfer/convert the files from my pc to my phone. am i doin something wrong?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 They need to be in midi 0 format to be played
Guest Simon Desser Posted November 22, 2003 Report Posted November 22, 2003 As your talking about wav files (not midi) I think your problem will be this:- The tone needs to be a Windows PCM wav file, and I bet yours is an ACM wav. ACM uses mp3 type technology to compress the file, which is fine on a PC, but our phones can't play them. If you've not got an editor to convert it with, attach it here(zipped) and I'll convert it for you Cheers Simon
Guest sweetyls Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 thanks! was able to fix the problem using a wav editor. but i noticed the files became larger when i had it converted. any ideas on how to fix this?

They will be larger in PCM Wav format, as the ACM uses an mp3 type compression. But you should try and keep your wav file quite low quality (sounds fine through the speaker) to keep the size down. Have a look at this guide I did  http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=90760 Cheers Simon
Guest darkmatter Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 you're right simon, SPV cannot play compressed wav files so you have to convert it to PCM wav format but with a bigger file size.
