Guest Shuflie Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Have you tried the infrared ports yet?
Guest darkside Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 hi Shuflie and thanks for the quick reply. yes i,ve try the IR ports but their not very reliable when either phone or Pda is out of line of sight.
Guest kyrkesmith Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 You could try getting a "Serial Sync Cable" from here, and a "Serial Interface with power input" from here. That should work, and the serial ends connect directly to each other, because the iPaq one is the other way round, as shown here.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Do not try this unless you want to screw your phone up Ipaq have a different pinouts, the XDA will be the same but the connector on the phone is reversed.
Guest darkside Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 thanks all for you quick replies, but having read a little more about both systems it seem that it,s the upgrade option to bluetooth compatiablity? unless of course the members know different. anyone wanna buy 2 spv,s

Are you sure, because surely they end up the same when they reach the RS-232 serial connector?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 You would be braver than me if you tried. At the rs plug it should be the same but that is not a definite.
Guest kyrkesmith Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 They ain't carrying power, the serial cables, so I can't see either getting very fried. The iPaq end does say "Connects to other serial devices such as external modem, GPS etc.". I don't want anyone to kill their phone, but it might at least be worth giving PC-Mobile a ring.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Agree they do give a good service
Guest foxy11 Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Are you sure, because surely they end up the same when they reach the RS-232 serial connector? My dads sure , he tried the spv/XDA car charger in his Ipaq2210 by mistake and yup, its as dead as a door nail.
Guest darkside Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 thank all for you quick input it seem that the way forawrd is an upgrade of phone to 1 that as bluetooth compataiblitys
Guest kyrkesmith Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 My dads sure ;), he tried the spv/XDA car charger in his Ipaq2210 by mistake and yup, its as dead as a door nail. That's a different thing. Here we're talking about connecting two different data cables, one for the iPaq, and one for the SPV together, effectively using a null modem adaptor. I would still advise contacting PC Mobile and seeing what they say.
