Guest JampoTT Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Maybe someone can help me here - I'm either being thick, or misunderstanding this product.... I was under the assumption you could use it for deleting all / some email from various folders. Now the way I use my mail is as follows: Download headers only, then mark and download the bits I want to read and delete the rest. On the SPV this was a manual task, but I was hoping the E200 would do it better.... However, when I go to "delete all Email" in Spacemaker, it seems not to work. I had 31 headers downloaded, I deleted all email, and they all remained!! So does it only delete entirely downloaded messages or what? This would seem a rather daft situation if it were true. The whole point of NOT downloading all the message is so that I don't waste my GPRS allowance on crap spam...... Can anyone answer this?
Guest fozzie Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 Simple (as has been posted loads of times all over this forum and explained in the Orange handbook)! Using Inbox delete function: 1. Download email (headers or full). 2. Delete email - email is placed in Deleted folder. 3. Download email - emails in Deleted folder removed from mail server. Using IA Spacemaker (to create space on phone!): 1. Download email (headers or full). 2. Delete email - email is removed from phone and NOT placed into Deleted folder (thereby freeing space on phone!). 3. Download email - any email that isn't currently in either Inbox or Deleted is downloaded. Spot the difference
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 I just don't see the point of a program that does that! Why on earth would I want to remove the email, then when I do a send & receive 2 minutes later and allow the buggers to come back? I am back to where I was 2 minutes ago! To me it's a totally stupid and worthless exercise. And it doesn't word on the E200 anyway, because SpaceMaker does not support multiple email accounts. Clever eh!
Guest fozzie Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Whinge whinge moan moan. I was explaining to JampoTT why he was experiencing the behaviour that he was. I know that you've some personal vendetta against this app but why not keep it in the IA Style Forum? :? For the last time, IA Spacemaker is there to free space on your phone. It is NOT designed to clear/delete/whatever, email from your mail server. If you don't like the app then don't use it ](*,)
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 I dont use it and if you look I have posted to the forum you suggest days ago as well as writing to the developers and they cant be arsed to reply to either. Why would I need to delete the emails the way it does to temporallaly free up space on my phone? To play a large game or something? When SMS's get deleted isn't that permanent?
