Guest smeg36 Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Has anyone connected to the net through their PPC using their Smartphone as a modem? I tried last night, but have yet to be successful. Thanks! Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest kyrkesmith Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 How are you trying it, Infrared?
Guest smeg36 Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 I am using IR. Is there another way? It is acting weird though. I can't transmit any data across IR, but my devices recognize each other, so the ports do work. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest kyrkesmith Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 What is your PPC? I've transferred files between my iPaq 3630 and SPV E100 without problems (although it's bloody slow). As for connecting to the internet - I haven't tried. Will give it a go when I've got a bit more time. A cable might work - although I'm not sure. See here.
Guest smeg36 Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 I am using an Axim. I may have just cancelled the beam to soon though if it goes really slow. I was trying to beam a contact to test the IR connection, and after 2 min. or so, I gave up on it. In both the beam and the beam recieve window, they would display the name of the other device, but I couldn't get farther than that. Is there another way to test the IR port? Thanks for your help!
Guest kyrkesmith Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 Are you sure the contact hasn't beamed? I've had it a couple of times where I've given up, but it just turns out that it has failed to notify me that it has suceeded. I'll have a think about testing the Ir port, but if you've got a laptop or something else with Infrared that would be a good way.
