Guest ferret Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 I've tried the honest way of getting an E200 (see signature). So I'm thinking of buying myself out contract so I can start a new one ASAP. However, what's stopping me changing my current servive plan to the Virgin OVP with £0 line rental then buying out the remaining three months at £0 * 3 = £0 ?? Just thought I'd run it past you lot before suggesting it to O.
Guest idavid Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 i like it! if it works, i might do the same... ps. fat chance! ;)
Guest Emad Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 To get onto Virgin OVP you need to have completed 12 months or pay off the rest of your contract  The cheapest contract you can get is a tenner a month - orange data or something.
Guest ferret Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 To get onto Virgin OVP you need to have completed 12 months or pay off the rest of your contract  Is this a new thing then, because I had a friend who had two contracts, used one for 6 months and then dropped to Virgin OVP. Took out a new contract for the next 6 months the dropped that onto Virgin OVP, and then upgraded his first contract. Repeat cycle. Means you could upgrade every 6 months but with a down side of alternating numbers. This happend about two years ago.
Guest idavid Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 why dont you try it and see?
Guest girobank Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 From the last time I enquired about it, Orange will OVP you to the Virgin tariff within the 1st 12 months, but you will have to pay £10 per month for the remainder of your months. Looking at post above, i presume this is equal to the Orange data tariff aforementioned.
Guest Rob.P Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 Your plan is sound, I did this on Thursday when I ordered my E200 from one stop. My old SPV sits for the time being in the charger cradle at home, that phone is on the OVP Virgin Tariff, no line rental. Also I have switched on Everyphone or Everywhere (can't remember which one it is called) and now my old number is on free divert to my new number. Oncethe contractual obligation of the offer from one stop runs out I think I might move my old number over to line 2 of the new one or vice versa. Quite happy how this has worked out so far as I now have a spare phone number if I should ever need it, bit like a commodity  (You can get the divert thing if you phone 330, call charges apply, I think this is how they re-coup there money on this service).
Guest Shuflie Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 There are a copule of flaws in you OVP virgin plan. 1. Any SMS messages sent to your old number won't get forwarded, which is very annoying. 2. Orange won't let you put a Virgin price plan number onto line two, I've tried. (Guess what I did last year when the SPV first came out)
Guest Rob.P Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 ^ Ah well, looks like I'll have to foresake the line 2 idea then, other than that though I've used some of free 2000 text messages to notify all the friends of number change and so far I haven't seen one stray text message on my old phone, changed my default phone to the new number as well so I get my email text alerts to the new phone now as well.
Guest starsoft Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 do what i did which was pay the 90 quid then take my first number on to 02 then wait 30 days get a brand new e200 then port number over abracadabra you have it cheaper
