Guest anders_g Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Hi everybody Have any of you ordered a developer E200 from ORA and received it? I emailed them twice in last Monday with this questions but still no answer: Can you select Danish as a language on the E200 developer phone? Do you think they have some in stock? I don’t want to order one if it takes too long time for it to arrive. Regards Anders
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 I have flashed my phone with the developer ROM, and Dansk IS available. Aside from the SIM lock, the phone seems identical to the retail phone in every way, INCLUDING app locking! P Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest jonblakeburn Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Mine will be here tomorrow - They do indeed have them in stock.
Guest coreymcl Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 I ordered mine and it will be here either Monday or Tuesday. It depends on the US customs and how long they take. But I have the tracking number and can atleast see what is going on and where it is.
Guest Max Damage Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Hi, Paul: can you say me if there is also the Italian T9 ? All: If i buy the phone from ora.co.uk and i will have some problem what should i do ? Thanks!
Guest anders_g Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Paul can you see t9danish.dll in the windows directory? I suppose that Dansk in the language setting include Danish T9 as well. I can't really decide whether I should go down to my local Orange store and buy it or order it from ORA. The reason for me to buy from ORA should be that I use another mobile operator in Denmark than Orange (Telmore). The ORA E200 is not that much expensive than an E200 from Orange in Denmark. What about warranty in England, how is the law? In Denmark the warranty is two years. Regards Anders
Guest anders_g Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 --> Max Damage That's also what I am worried about? I don't know anything about the warranty law in the UK. Regards Anders
Guest kyrkesmith Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 You're looking at a year's warranty. --> Max Damage You talking about other damage to your phone if you send it off for warranty? In my experience they're alright about it - unless it is directly related to the warranty fault, when they'll often charge to even to get the phone back unrepaired.
Guest jimbou Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Can anyone order it?Even if you are not a developer? I haven't seen any other online place that i could buy one sim-free
Guest anders_g Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 I think I have decided to buy an E200 from Ora. I just need to be sure that the t9danish.dll is in the windows directory?? Please can anybody check this? Paul?? Regards Anders
Guest Crispy Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 "]I have flashed my phone with the developer ROM, and Dansk IS available. How? ... Do you write it in the roder notes that you want another language installed or do you download a localized rom afterwards? ... and if you need to flash it yourself, where do you download the romz? from ORA?
Guest Max Damage Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 but how can i buy from ORA if they don't answer me to my emails...i would only know if is there italian T9...and where i can find the updates...

Guest mwille Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 Three things about this Ora phone : - I noticed they claim it has : 64MB flash ROM & 32MB SDRAM. Is this correct ? The E200 has 32 ROM and 32 RAM, right ?? - "]INCLUDING app locking! I need to ota unlock this one ? I was under the impression the E200 just used a XP-like "this software is unsigned" message and would still run uncerted software ? - No cradle ?
Guest Max Damage Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 coreymcl: is all ok with your ORA SPV E200 ?
Guest coreymcl Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Works fine. Since I have never used a SPV from HTC before the joystick is not an issue for me. I did verify that you can not attach a sound file to a MMS message though. I don't know if this is by design or bug. This package does not come with a cradle so I will have to find one and a charger for the US and a Car charger. I'm loving the phone though.
Guest Max Damage Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 and what about battery life ? ...and the speaker buzzing...? ...reading modaco they are the principal problems of E200... THANKS! p.s: do you know where you can download further rom updates for E200 development versione ?
Guest coreymcl Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 I can't really speak about battery life yet since I have not had it in my hands for 24 hours yet. However, I hear no buzzing sounds like what has been reported by some. As I play with more I will post about it. Pleae ask questions and I will try it out and let you know. But Like I said I really like this phone allot. I do also have a MPx-200 so I do have that to compare it too.
Guest Max Damage Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Thanks coreymcl!...when you have done some test for the battery life, let me know... don't you know nothing about further updates ?
Guest coreymcl Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 To tell you the truth I have been in my office since I got the phone and every little bit I plug in the sync cable (which also charges it) to install a program or add a ring tone
Guest yoos Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 FYI.... I sent the following email to [email protected] . I'll let you know when/if I get answers... Subject: Questions before potential purchase I live in the USA and I am contemplating purchasing an E200 for Development. Before I purchase the mobile phone (which appears to be quite expensive by the way) I have a few questions... Any help would be appreciated! - There appears to be quite a few reported problems with the E200 on modaco and other websites. I understand it can take 7 days or so for a shipment between the US and UK (either way). If I have problems a week or two later can I return the phone and get a replacement? What about a refund if the phone has a lot of problems? - It has been reported that this phone does NOT come with a cradle. Is that true?! If so, that is very disappointing. - For development purposes, will I be able to completely software decertify the phone? If so, how? - I would expect/hope there are software updates for this phone to fix some of the reported issues and more issues that I am sure will come about. - Will I be able to apply these future updates? - Where/How can I get them? - Will they keep the phone SIM unlocked? - Will they keep the phone application decertified? - Your reported specs say 64MB flash ROM & 32MB SDRAM. Does that mean there is a total of 96MB RAM? I am confused on this because I thought there was only a total of 64MB. - It has been reported that the joystick can only move in four directions (up, down, left, right). This is very disappointing for gaming development. Will it be possible in the near future to have the phone I purhase from you to be software upgraded to allow diagonaly movements? - Or... is this a hardware issue? - If it's a hardware issue, will there be a newer version allowing diagonal movements and can I get a replacement? Thank you very much!
Guest Max Damage Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 yoos: great email!!!! In your email there are ALL my doubts...let me know!!! ORA takes several time to answer...i've sent it 3 email before an answer!
