Guest Pug Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Hi, just found this cool forum. I'm seriously thinking about getting an E200 and just wanna know a few things. Does it have caller ID? If so, is it a small thumbnail or good size pic? Are there any good cases available? Does it come with protective plastic on the screen? Does the joystick have a 'click'? If so can you go straight to contacts by 'clicking' it? I realize there are a fair few questions but you all seem like a friendly, helpful bunch  . Thanks in advance. Pug.
Guest kyrkesmith Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Haven't got an E200, but do have an E100. Caller ID, yes, of course it has it. Suppose you mean the photo thing. Not sure if it comes with it (I have a feeling it might do), but you can easily pick up a piece of software to sort it. Just do a search. Don't use it myself, but would assume it's capable of doing a "good size pic". Cases, if you mean as in leather cases, then my favourite is the one by Krusell, as seen here. Cases for the E100 will be fully compatible. If you mean fascias, then it doesn't have changeable fascias. The plastic on the screen can get scratched resonably easily in my experience - so I use a case, but you can also use screen protectors. The joystick does have a click, by pressing it in. It doesn't take you to contacts, the right soft key does that when you're on the homescreen - it will take you to whatever's highlighted on the homescreen.
Guest Dectomax Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Hi, I don't tink the E100 case will be compatible. The E200 has a cameramirror in the back which would get covered up. Also isn't the E200 slightly longer?? The caller i.d. can have a good sized picture. You can adjust the sizeposition to tailor it to your preferences.
Guest Pug Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Thanks for the replies guys. Does the photo ID come already on the E200?

Not sure about the dimensions making a difference - they're basically the same, and although the case is pretty snug, it ain't that snug. Camera is kinda an issue though - forgot about that!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Thanks for the replies guys. Does the photo ID come already on the E200? Nope
Guest Dectomax Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Errrrrrrrr............. Yes it does.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Yes I know now, sorry I forgot Davidrm had just reminded me
Guest shadamehr Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 I've ordered, but not yet received, a new e200. There appear to be two posts in this thread saying "picture caller ID" (as MS calls it) does NOT come as an in built part of the e200, and two posts saying it DOES. Can someone please clarify - as not being a pessimist, but this is my first real move away from Nokia, as I feel there Customer Srvice has just gone too far towards rock bottom. But if it means that I DON'T have Visual Caller ID in my new e200, then sorry guys, but I have serious concerns about the phone already then... So someone confirm one way or the other (hopefully to say that Smartphone 2003/e200 DOES have it). Micorscoft's own 'new' Smartphone Support Centre for 2003 actually still seems to use a FAQ list for 2002 - doh.I've ordered, but not yet received, a new e200. Guest Simon Desser Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Yes it DOES come with a Photo Caller ID program which can be found in the "Orange" folder on the phone. It's IA's Caller ID, which is in my opinion, the best of the bunch  Welcome to the site by the way ;)
Guest kyrkesmith Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 Um, there's no need to repeat yourself in your post . I really wouldn't let Picture Caller ID affect your opinion of the phone. I don't know whether it comes with the phone or not, but it's a simple download if it doesn't. Tbh, to get the most from any Smartphone, you're going to have to install extra bits of software here and there.
Guest shadamehr Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 Hi guys - and thanks for the welcome. Sure enough, from talking to one ever so hlepful mod (thanks mate) on messenger, I was pointed to Paul's excellent review on here. It transpires (in his review) that the e200 DOES come with picture Caller ID, but not as part of the underlying o.s. - in actual fact it is just the third party caller id software I have read about for the e100 users of you, but inbuilt into rom already now. Which is great, because feature wise, it is light years beyond anything on any other phone in terms of customisation etc. And kyrke, I agree with you, but feature-wise, visual caller id was something that I DID have to have on a current handset. Can't wait for mine to arrive now... Thanks again guys - looking forward to spending a LOT of time in here in the months to come...
Guest kyrkesmith Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 Phonography: GA628>3110>5110>3210>6210>8210>8310>6310i>7210>7650>5100>7250>7250>6100>7250i>Blackberry>E200...(?) That's quite impressive - a bit more than once a year, isn't it?
