Has anyone tried the car kit for the E200 yet ? The Car kit for the 1st SPV from Orange was pants. Poor holder, poor sound and poor mic. I am hoping that they may have improved the kit to get the same quality as the Nokia Car kits.

afaik, the old kit fits the e200, so no upgrade is deemed necessary.. (great).

Tried the E200 in the Original SPV car kit today and it doesn't work

1) It doesn't physically fit. The E200 is longer so the antenna connector is in the wrong place and, even if it did line up, you can't clip it back in the cradle because of the height.

2) If you're careful, you can get the phone to plug into the connector. It does change the profile to "Car" (even though you push it back into the cradle - see 1 above). However, when you get an incomming call the volume level through the car kit is VERY quiet, totally useless :!:

So, forget it, the Original SPV car kit is a waste of time.

Has a car kit for the E200 been released yet :?:

The e200 kit is made by HTC and not e-lead who made the last abortion.

Release date from Orange is end of the month....

I have just fitted a car kit for an Orange SPV E200 to my car. I t was purchased from Freedom Mobiles ( http://www.freedom-mobiles.co.uk/)

I had previously an original SPV car kit but the E200 does not fit this. The original kit worked quite well but once the original SPV

had received an update the volume on the speaker was reduced to inaudible.

The car kit for the E200 seems to be suffering from the same thing, you can hardly hear a call coming in and you certainly can't hear the callers voice. It does have the advantage over the original kit in that it mutes the car radio/cd. This kit also has a connector to connect to your car's speakers, although I am not sure how you manage to connect the cars speakers to the phone and to your car radio at the same time and the instructions with the kit do not mention this connector at all. In fact the instructions are very basic and not very good at all.

It does also have another good point, the cradle is phone specific not the whole kit, so if you change your phone you only have to change the cradle, although goodness knows where you get other cradles from as there is no address for the manufacturer

Thanks for that, I had already been in touch with Freedom mobiles and they have now replied suggesting that I adjust the volume on the phone before I place it in the car kit and again after it is in the car kit...... I tried that, it made no difference!

They say that the manufacturer is 'concerned' with a few units thats have low volume and that they are considering replacing the faulty units. So for those of you that were thinking of buying this car kit, I'd hold on for a while. I see the same kit is available from ORA, I suspect the same will be true of their kits.
