Operating System Updating

There are a lot of posts about Qtek and I-mate, but the question I have to ask is:

I have an Orange SPV (Unlocked) but can I download the update for another operating system eg. I-mate, and still use this on my phone.

And what does it update?

How is it different?

Would installing these update damage my phone?

I would recomend that you only use ROMS supplied by your operator, others may work but you could void your warranty etc if download other operator ROMS onto your prange phone that said, the Qtek roms should function fine but you would need to replace all your settings etc. (I haven't tried this but others on the forum have)

I ain't fussed about warranty, I bought the SPV from ebay used (and slightly abused!)

Is there any others I can use?

What are the advantages of using another OS on the phone (besides the obvious MSN Messenger fix)?

Also is there any details about each one so I can choose before I install one?
