E100/E200 - What's Better - What's Worse - What's Missing?

Ok, so like a few people now I've had the E100 and the E200. I have listed below what I think is better and worse between the 2 phones:

I haven’t added things that the E100 does not have - BT/Camera etc.

Things better on the E200 then the E100

Joystick feel

Keys/blue lights

Holding home key to disconnect from GPRS

Connecting to GPRS - it works everytime

Alarm time on home screen

Can install unsigned apps

Dialling from contacts

SMS counter

SMS to more than one mobile number in each contact

Pocket Internet Explorer

Screen returning to home screen after answering call while locked

Windows Media Player

MMS

Most of the menu screens

Auto-numbering of all menus

Things worse on the E200 then the E100

The Orange fiddly home screen

The multi Inbox

Automatic email polling bug (The 2nd worst thing)

No 8 way joystick movement

Soft key select buttons

Battery life!

In call quality

All windows system files are locked and can't be copied or modified

No automatic GPRS disconnect if you want that option

Things that never got fixed

T9 text still gets forgotten. Happens to me a couple of times a day! (The worst thing)

The doink when you add a contact to an sms or email (The 3rd worst thing)

Lone all day events do not change as the days change

IA Space maker is on ROM but is not properly compatible with the phone

Things that should have been added

'Delete All' option to inbox

Better battery

IA File Manager

Can't add sound to MMS's

I'm sure there's a lot more, good and bad that I've missed but I'm sure I'll remember in time.

Was about to post a similar subject myself, except versus the original SPV..!!

Things which are better on E200

screen

button feel

joystick

speakerphone

keyboard led colour

bluetooth support

multi-inbox support (fiddly at first, but getting used to it)

gprs reliability

working MSN messenger (!)

menu structure much better

jawbreaker is cool

overall phone speed (very little hourglass)

the "feel" of the phone in your hand

cover on headphone socket

camera built in (never used the clip on one, too much hassle!)

new version of IE is much quicker and better layout for pages too

Things that I don't like about it so far

Biggest gripes are hardware based -

1) battery life seems woeful so far

2) not compatible with previous SPV/XDA cables for charging

(both factors together leaving me a bit peeved to say the least)

T9 still seems bad. I unlocked using the developers site, and I *think* I'm having the same problem. SPV used to remember my smiley :-) for a while and forget it, and this seems to be doing likewise

Fiddly to move around the various inboxes. Although I like the feature, and certainly having texts separate from emails is great, the coding isn't

Few email bugs - not least of which, I deleted an incoming email whilst it was downloading (say 12/23 done) - and then I marked and downloaded a different mail I really needed to read. When it was downloaded, the email didn't match the headers, so somewhere it had corrupted which mail I wanted. Had to get the sender to resend in the end!

Spacemaker isn't working properly - won't delete undownloaded email headers (although it seems fine with SMS)

Windows Media player still too basic for my liking

No case supplied.

Things I don't really care about either way (or haven't found fault with)

1) speech quality. seems OK to me? Nice and loud anyway...

2) 8-way joypad. I don't play a lot of games

3) gprs autodisconnection

Basically, I wanted to upgrade for a couple of reasons

1) to get rid of some annoying bugs with the original SPV

2) to enable me to use bluetooth

3) the built-in camera

4) the OS upgrades including multimail accounts plus better IE support

Has the phone done the job? Well there seems to be some new bugs, the bluetooth I'm yet to put to the test, the camera will only get minimal use anyway, but I do welcome the mail and IE changes.

To be honest, the jury is out on this one. I'm giving serious consideration to changing my mind and returning the phone. Its *good*, but with some annoying problems remaining, and some new ones added, I'm not sure it was worth my £99.99 versus waiting a month or so and either moving my number away from orange (and getting a P900 maybe?) or simply waiting for Orange to correct these faults WITHOUT using me (and you guys!) as guinea pigs.....

Addict. How can MMS be better if you say you cannot add sound to MMS.

I have the original SPV and I can add sound to my MMS messages, Is this something that was disabled on the E100?

MMS is better because you don't need a degree in brain surgery to be able to use it.

You can create and send an MMS in 5 seconds flat.

I disagree with your homescreen comment, i love it but thats a personal preference, the new plugin is good!

I also like the multi inbox so different email/sms/mms accounts are seperate.

You can stop the doink when you add a contact by editing a profile and setting system sounds to off.

You can delete all SMS and MMS by clicking Menu in the folders view of either account but it doesnt allow for the deleting of all email.

I'm not talking about having the little charging symbol light up, or being able to sync - I'm talking about actually topping up the juice in the battery.

If you can confirm this works, I will be straight onto Orange CS for a replacement handset, because mine sure as hell don't charge.....

(although it DOES charge fine from the supplied power lead)

I have a sync and charge cable for my laptop. It worked on my SPV and works on my E200.

Havn't tried my care charging setup. Basically a nokia charger with the E200 dongle forced on the end. but it worked for my SPV.

Well I just tried the definitive "test".....

Removed the battery from the E200 and connected to my usb cable.

Slightly blinking red light, and the on/off button not powering the phone up. Put the battery back on and all is fine again....

Very weird behaviour.... this morning I took delivery of an SPV keyboard - connected the E200 power cable into the side, sat the phone on the cradle and "bingo" it charges fine...

So, is there something wrong with my 2 or 3 other cables? Or do I have an issue with the phone!!
