Guest Sarc Posted November 25, 2003 Report Posted November 25, 2003 I'm trying to figure out how to use a dial up account on my US MPx200. I've got all the appropriate information in the dial up settings, and when I go to IE, the signal indicator switches to the apposing arrows instead of the "G" symbol making me think it is trying to use it, but it just sits there for a decent amount of time then error's out. Usually with a generic "Unable to connect." error. Am I going about this wrong, or is it meant for a different purpose? Any idea's are welcome. Thanks.
Guest Bunchie Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 When you mean dialup, do you mean a dialup internet account through an Internet Service Provider? If so I think that you are unable to do this. You are only able to connect with GPRS from mobile phone operators and not ISP's.
Guest smittyofdhs Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Bunchie is correct. ATTWS has never allowed dialup via the device (or any other phone related device such as the PPCPE), but t-mobile USA does allow dialup via the PPCPE. Too bad they don't have a smartphone yet....
Guest smeg36 Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 It is to bad, however I am using my SPV with T-Mobile USA. Currently (until I get the $20 unlimited internet this week), I am using dial-up internet. It is freggin slow though, and doesn't connect half the time.
Guest Sarc Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Well that just fricken' figures. And I find it kinda' odd since there are menu listings in the phone which allow you to enter all the required information for a dial up internet service provider account. I guess they had to rub it in. Thanks for the input.
Guest Bunchie Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Yeah if you could do this it would truely be amazing! You could just use the same ISP you use at home and browse the internet using their connection. Sadly i don't think we'll see something like this for quite a while yet..
