Guest sbsdegb1 Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 I have only had my E200 since Monday. GPRS was working fine on Monday as I set up MSN Messenger, Agile Messenger and Your Page on Orange World. However since then it has failed to work. Contacted Orange who sent me an auto update for the phone settings. but I had already told them that I hadn't changed them. Still no luck. I get the little G above the battery indicator. But everything I use that uses GPRS just says connecting. After about 5 mins it times out and I get a network coverage error. Any help greatly appreciated. Anyone else experienced this.
Guest benzo Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 I too am having gprs problems on my SPV. This started 2 days ago. I am able to use agile, but not ie. I should get my e200 today, so will test whether it is phone issue or Orange GPRS issue. Benzo.

Guest drblow Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 So the gprs problems which have been so extensively discussed here for the last year are STILL affecting new phones like the e200????????? I don't know. it's getting to be more & more depressing every day!
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 My E-200's working fine - no complaints this end....yet
Guest sbsdegb1 Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Orange are going to remove GPRS from my account and then re-enable it. 2 Hours they reckon before it will be working. lets wait and see.
Guest nCoder Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 I had the same problem with dropped GPRS settings. Orange CS where worse than useless, the auto update didn't work and neither did manually entering the settings. In the end, out of desperation, I backed everything up and did a hard reset, and low and behold everything started working again.
Guest sbsdegb1 Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 well if its not working in another hour shall be back on the phone. Can't believe I have only had GPRS working for half a day.
Guest JampoTT Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Somewhat worse than that, I also find people calling ME are finding it extremely "hit and miss" as to whether their call is presented to me, even when I have full signal strength..... instead it goes straight to voicemail.... Any ideas what could cause this? Its usually when I have an open GPRS connection....

Guest morpheus2702 Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Oh sweet Jesus, GPRS still not working properly? Can anyone make a custom ringtone for the E200 - one of a turkey going 'gobble gobble gobble'?
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Here ya go Morpheus :lol:gobble_spacecowboy.zip
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Love the filename  Are you trying to tell us something!
Guest morpheus2702 Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Maasive respect going out to you Cowboy! But seriously, all the things we have been told, all the 'it'll be fixed in Windows Mobile 2003/E200/next update' and what do we have: i) GPRS still screwy ii) T9 still not remembering words Love to hear someone try to apologise for this!
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Ok, I'm sorry. It was my fault. I'm to blame
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Who is directly responsible for this "mess" if you will ? Not Orange as a whole, but certain departments. We need an inside man to get get email addresses and phone numbers. Somebody needs to take the wrap pretty soon or Im guessing Orange will be loosing a fair few customers. God dammit I left Vodafone becasue of their downright lack of respect for customers. I'll chuck Orange like yesterdays trash if worst comes to worst  spacecowboy
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 If it's any consolation the Moto sticks on GPRS dialling just like the E100. At least they fixed that on the E200.

Guest martin Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 You will need set the band selection to PCS in Settings-Telephony. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest dwlewisii Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Thanks much martin! I'll need to see what I can do about roaming charges being removed from my phone as att uses a gsm and not pcs connection
Guest drblow Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 If it's any consolation the Moto sticks on GPRS dialling just like the E100. At least they fixed that on the E200. Mmm ... yes they fixed the dialling... bug - some smart cookie just replaced the word dialling, with connecting ... - excellent work! Bug completely fixed then?? Its a ggod job that swearing is not allowed or else all my posts would be parental advisory!! 156 recommend removing the battery while the phone is switched on - even tho it clearly states in the manual that you risk losing all your data if you do this!! You know that theory that if you got enough monkeys with typewriters that eventually they would write shakespeare - it's not true - Orange have proven that if you get a bunch of monkeys together with computers, they cant even read a manual between them!! Is it any wonder the e200 is not able to be network unlocked. They obviously knew everyone would immediately remove themselves from the Orange network COZ IT DOESNT WORK!! Brilliant - another 5 free handsets this year! I would love to know exactly how much money I have cost Orange this year! If their profit margins on handsets are what I reckon they are - then I think actually Orange will have made a net loss on me last year, if you deduct all the replacement handsets I got due to gprs problems from my total bills every month!! Go Orange!! Heres to another year of free replacements every 2 or 3 months!! Oh, by the way - ARE YOU LISTENING MR. ORANGE???????????????????? HAVE YOU GOT ANYTHING TO SAY ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS ORANGE HAS RECIEVED ABOUT THE E200 IN THE FIRST FOUR WEEKS OF ITS RELEASE??? IS THERE ANY KIND OF REVIEW OF HANDSET PERFORMANCE AT ORANGE??? IS ANYBODY LOOKING INTO ANY OF THESE PROBLEMS AT ORANGE, OR IS THE COMPANY JUST HAPPY TO LET ALOT OF PEOPLE DOWN??? IS ORANGE PROUD OF ITS NEW SMARTPHONE RELEASE??? Oh no, of course, how could I forget - Mr. Orange has already told us that there are NO BUGS with the e200!! Oh well, thats ok then isn't it?? You can still just pay Orange to sim-unlock your phone, can't you?? Whats the number for Vodaphone??
Guest Pagemakers Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 I know what you mean and to further sub salt into your wounds the Moto doesn't stick on dialling. That was my error. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest drblow Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 Ooh, that hurts!! Just goes to show you that a company who has a history of MAKING phones, CAN do it right! Orange should be embarrassed at their current perception level among customers. & true to form, Mr. Orange has NOTHING to say!! Well, I guess I wouldnt have anything to say in his position!! Its a shame - the e200 has alot of nice features, & is a big improvement on the functions of the e100, especially the new orange plugin, which rocks!! But it is just let down by a repeat performance of all the bugs from last year which we shouted about til we went horse, & then shouted some more!! I'm keeping my e200 for the meantime, until a better phone comes out, when I am relying on Orange to have failed to address the bugs contained in the e200, thereby giving me ammunition with OSC to get a free upgrade to a nice new phone! I think I'm coming around to Oranges thinking on this one!! They seem determined to ignore their customers & continue to produce inferior products, & I figure that if I just stick with them, I can probably get a nice new model every few months, until they actually give me a phone that does what it says on the tin!! Oh, & if anybody from Orange reads this, YES I am trying to be antagonistic! I don't see why I shouldn't be - & if you think I should stop doing this, then GIVE ME A PHONE THAT WORKS. There is a huge amount of information here about the problems people are experiencing, & yet there is no effort from Orange to even appear to be TRYING to rectify any of them - more over, we get flat denial of the fact that there are any problems. There is no alternative course of action but to continually complain about the inferior product, & of course, get replacement equipment where applicable by consumer law, &/or terms & conditions of sale. Anything less would be a betrayal of my fellow consumers! That, & I think that the only way to get Oranges attention is to cost them money. What with being on my 3rd e200 in the space of 6 days, & expecting a 4th this week, I hope somebody at Orange is keeping score! I started a new contract, so I am guessing that I have cost them 450 quid in handsets already, & I havent even paid my first months line rental yet!!!! You know - we all know that Orange look at this forum on a regular, if not daily basis. I wonder do the staff there try to keep their bosses away from modaco now? Most of the posts are so anti-orange that it would appear to be a negative propaganda campaign. I know if it was my boss, & I was responsible for 'officially' posting here, I'd be scared! I wonder do the other networks also look at modaco? Must be pretty encouraging stuff if they do.
