Guest Happyguy Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 I copied the CD to WMA file then use Windows media player to move the songs to MMC (smartphone) but always prohibit. I tried drag the WMA file to MMC, it successed. However, the smartphone showed that I cannot playback such file. Can anybody help me!
Guest kyrkesmith Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 You're sure the file is now on the MMC? The MMC is working fully? What's the error you get in Windows Media Player on the Smartphone? Also, I really don't think this would be relavent, but is it an MMC and not an SD card? If so, you could try an SD card instead (e.g. the one that came with the phone).
Guest Brody Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 MMC and SD should work fine, does the file play when run from the phone's memory?
Guest Happyguy Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 The card come with the Mio 8380 SP is 64MB MMC. When I use WMP to copy the file to SP, it process. After certain seconds, it stop and showed "Error" in the status bar. Sometime I can success moving the WMA song to the SP but when I select the file (song), the SP show a warning that "You are not authorize to play the file" something like that (As I am using Chinese version) MMC and SD should work fine, does the file play when run from the phone's memory?
Guest Brody Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Have you tried copying the files using active sync's explore function rather than through WMP?
Guest Happyguy Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 I tried using Active Sync. I can move the files to SP and I can see them in SP but also cannot playback. Another problem is the SW "System Info" come with the SP can recognize the MMC card but I use another SW "SP Task Manger" it cannot recognize the MMC card, why? Have you tried copying the files using active sync's explore function rather than through WMP?
Guest Brody Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Did you format it when you first put it onto your phone? You can do this using SP Task Manager. Did you try the music file when placed in the phone's memory rather than the storage card?
Guest Happyguy Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 I haven't format the card before using it as there were some bonus SW inside it. Now I trying to format it but the SP Task Manager cannot recognize the card (other program " System info" can). Do you think it related to the quality of the card (Brand: Pretec) Did you format it when you first put it onto your phone? You can do this using SP http://smartphone.MoDaCo.com/viewtopic.php?t=7065>Task Manager. Did you try the music file when placed in the phone's memory rather than the storage card?
Guest Simon Desser Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 I'm pretty sure your problem is that your WMA's are "Protected" which means you can only play them on your PC. Open Windows Media Player on your PC, click Tools, Options and Copy Music, then make sure the "Protect Content" box is unticked. (You'll have to copy your CD again)
Guest shadamehr Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Alternatively, your problems MIGHT mirror my own, and my post about my 'good' 256MB card not being liked by the phone. I can happily use two different cards with a memory card reader on a pc, copy files to it, and put the card in my E200 and have them play/read/view fine. But can I hell save files to the card when in the phone itself - the phone doesn't 'like' the cards then. Your issues about formatting it just mirror my own too. I can easily format it on the card reader and use it then, but most of the time, trying to format it in the phone meets with the errors you describe. My opinion...? The PHONE is faulty/to blame/having the problem - not necessarily what would otherwise appear to be two good SD cards...
