Guest powellk31 Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003  I have just recieved my SPV phone in the last few days and have found the following: Ring tones are faint compared to my friends E100. He can alter the Volume under the Power off button, I can't. I tried the GPRS, and found that it was activated all day long, how do you switch it off. The battery, does not seem to last long, any ideas. Cheers
Guest Brody Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Welcome to the site  Have you tried turning up the volume of the ringtone in the profile settings? Hold down the Home button to close GPRS. The battery life is not the best i'm afraid!
Guest powellk31 Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003  Thanks a million for you help, it maybe me, but I can't find this information anywhere in the Orange manual, where can I find all the secret button sequences online. Any Ideas I'm a complete novice with this, but I'm a fast learner. I have heard that some Orange outlets are also withdrawing the E200's, is there anything I need to look out for. Cheers
Guest Brody Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 The SPV manual's have never been the best of references! Your best bet for help is to use the search function here on MoDaCo.
Guest powellk31 Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003  I have read people with problems with there SD cards, my friend loaded a world atlas on my SD card attemted to get the E200 to read the card, he felt that the phone should auto load directly after the card had been entered. Is there another way of reading any applications on the SD card ? Is this the industries way of taking the P*&s out of us consumers ? CheersIMAGE_00037.jpg
Guest Brody Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 Thanks for the pic (?!) Download Binarys' Smart Explorer which will allow you to explore the phone's memory including the Storage Card, problem solved  Note: Your phone will have to be application unlocked/decerted to run Smart Explorer. Try Orange's OTA method.
Guest powellk31 Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003  Thanks, is it true that orange have not yet provided an app to de cert the E200. Sorry, I'm still a newbie. Cheers
Guest Brody Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 Don't apologise! I unlocked my E200 using the OTA method, despite the message stating that an E200 unlock process will be available soon this worked fine for me  I have however spoken to people who have received error messages complaining about invalid IMEI numbers.
Guest powellk31 Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003  So I ask myself should I stick or should I twist. If I attempt this then i will start to recieve messages, with errors, but apart from that, the phone will still be fully functional. I can't move forward to explore the features such as the Movies, Explorer and Wave files. It's like having a sports car with a speed limiter!!!!
Guest Brody Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 powellk31, don't panic, its not multiple messages, its just a message on your PC saying that your IMEI number is not valid with the website, nothing more, the answer is most definately twist!
Guest Wildfire Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 I have the same problem with the volume on my E200. I have the volume cranked up to Loud and still it is real faint, i am having to rely on the vibration part of it so as let me know that someone is calling. I am starting to wonder if there is a fault with the handset
Guest Brody Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 To quote myself: Have you tried turning up the volume of the ringtone in the profile settings? If so then ensure that the earpiece volume is also crancked up to it maximum and try again. Is it a default sound fromt he phone that you are using or one that you have added?

Guest Brody Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 If you have tried these suggestions then the handset may well be dodgy as i have had no such problems...
Guest Wildfire Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 Have done a master reset as asked by Orange, works so long as i don't download any new ringtones, as soon as i do all the ringtones go very faint. Orange are replacing it as a faulty h/set
Guest powellk31 Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 :?: So are you saying that if I load any ringtones onto my new phone, all ringtones will be faint, so maybe a master reset might well be the answer.. And also I shall try the de cert for the E100, it's boring not being able to download all those lovely apps for our developer friends.. Cheers
Guest powellk31 Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003  Always careful, I have just checked the official orange de cert web page Webpage Title My ROM "Operator" says 1.1.1.4, the expanation write up is looking form ROM version 1.3.5 or higher, is this because that may be the ROM versions for the E100. And can I de cert, even though the ROM versions do not meet with my orange SPV. Again, sorry for the uncertainty, it may take a while....
