Guest eortega Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Hello everybody, This is an excellent site, so far I've found all the answers I needed... until this one. The Phone: Orange SPV UK (not e100) The Problem: when I stick the camera attachement... nothing happens! I mean, I put on the camera attachment, then go to Programs>Picture Manager>Menu... and the option "New from Camera" is gray! (IE not available). I tried switching off the phone, pushing really hard to see if the contact is ok... but so far nothing! I'm not sure if what I did is the correct procedure, but thats what I found in the manual... I just hope that my bloody camera is not damaged  Please help!!!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Welcome to the site  Are you getting any error messages at all ie Camera driver etc? If not then I hate so say it but it does sound like either the camera or the connector on the phone may have been damaged. The only way to really test the camera is to try it on another phone.
Guest eortega Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 Hello Again!! Well, I think I found part of the problem... nobody told me to remove the rubber band on the top of the camera, so the contact wasn´t complete... but now I'm getting "driver error" or something like that... any idea here? I have the last UK update (1.3.6)...
Guest JoelRae Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 You're not meant to remove the rubber bit mate, it's just there to make the connection nice and snug  Normally if people get the "driver error" message the advice is detach the camera, exit the picture manager app (using task manager or something similar), switch the phone off, blow hard on all the connections, switch the phone back on, plug the camera back in and restart the picture manager... ... if that don't work (and your problem does sound harsher than most) then I guess there's a faulty connection somewhere. Do you know any other SPV owners who can test your camera? I've a funny feeling the camera's not covered by Orange Care (that may or may not apply ) Good luck, Joel
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 No it's not covered. If you cannot find someone to test the phone, send it to me and I'll do it for you.
Guest JoelRae Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Sorry to go a bit off topic, but are integrated cameras covered by O care? In case you cracked the lense or summat ?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 On the E200 may be but on the SPVE100 the camera is an accessory and accessories are not covered by Care. @eortega as you removed the rubber spacer what is probably happening now is that you are plugging the camer in too far. Only the E100 has this removed as the case is slightly different.
Guest eortega Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 I think it is official, the camera is damaged. I have no problems when I sincronize the phone with the cradle, so it is likely that the problem is the camera conector. I suppose I have nothing to do since I'm not in Europe anymore. Thanks everybody for your help!!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 The camera and the sync uses different connections so unfortunately if you can sybc ok does not mean the camera if the faulty item :?
