Guest ront Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Hi, My Qtek 7070 has hung a few times and now won't restart. I've tried a hard reset with my SD card installed but it freezes on the tri-colour canary screen and won't progress when holding down the action key. Any thoughts - Much appreciated - Ront
Guest Brody Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 You need to press the action key when it says "Press any key". Press and hold the action key until you see a menu, then Erase IPSM, once you receive the PASSED message press and hold the power button until the phone restarts, then be patient as it can take longer to startup than normal after a Hard Reset. Ps. Welcome to the site
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 To perform a hard reset first you must TAKE OUT your SD card. Then push down the on/off button while pressing the dictaphone button. Hold down the action button until you see a grey screen. Press 8 (erase ipsm) and then click left on your controller twice and go to option 3 (end) At this point the canary screen will boot. Take off your battery for 30 seconds, then place it back on. It will take longer than normal to boot but this is ok (i.e. it stays on the Cloud/Ocean type scene) Smartphone 2002 screen appears, a little beep. It does a little check of the IPSM and then resets itself. And hey presto. Im not sure whether the IPSM on yours does a check then resets itself as my SPV is on Uk rom 1.3.5.6 and i installed i-mate 1.5. But it should work  spacecowboy

Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 To perform a http://smartphone.MoDaCo.com/viewtopic.php?p=97945#97945>Hard Reset first you must TAKE OUT your SD card. Sorry m8 but you need the card in as it slows down the process making access to the bootloader possible. Some bootloaders are impossible to get in to unless you have a card in. You need to make sure you have a storage card in and not the dummy packaging card that comes with the phone.
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Interesting stuff !! Ive always taken it out, but I'll admit to it when Im wrong  Cheers Awarner ;) spacecowboy
