Guest kiddybaggie Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Reading previous posts about battery life I wanted to give it the full spanking 16 hours as I've done on previous phones so I was gonna wait until I get home to charge it overnight. Just having a flick through the manual and it says and I quote "the first charge must be for a minimum of 3 hours in order to achieve optimum performance". So what do I do, go with the guide and charge it until lunchtime at work or wait until I get home to give it the full 16 hours? The problem is it just looks so damn tempting to play with sat there on my desk........ :?: But at the same time someone has mentioned futher down to give it the full blast??????
Guest chocobogo Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 It seems like the e200s come with a pretty fully charged battery. Its still probably a good idea to leave it charging switched off over night, it just means you have to wait another day till you start playing with it
Guest kiddybaggie Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Its gonna have to go back in the box then, I can't bear to look at that shiney face and intergrated camera next to my old battered and bruised SPV  Mind you if its the "first charge" that needs to be substantial then whats to stop me flicking it on and looking at some of the the features for 1/2 hour or so and then giving its "first charge" the 16 hours? (You can see I'm chomping on the bit to press that power button!)
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Go on mate - have a go. I was in the same position as you're in just now. A 20 minute play wont do any harm. I charged mine for a full 12 hours, ran the battery down to nothing and did the same for 4 days. I imagine I have slightly improved the life expectancy of my battery  spacecowboy
Guest kiddybaggie Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 I've done it , battery was fully charged already (as others have said) , I'm going to run it right down before it's first charge and then give it overnighters from dead there on in. I must say I love the phone......can't comment on the E100 only comparing from my SPV original but video capture is smoother than that of the SPV, Screen size is superb. Right whats next to try ....internet, no work is being done today............
Guest Hax Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 I seem to remember a discussion about how to charge the SPV battery when the "original" SPV came out. IIRC, the upshot was that LI-ION battery's are not particularly fond of being run completly flat (I could be wrong here - and I'm sure that I'll be corrected soon enough if that is the case...) Hax
Guest the loc-man Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 just got my e200. started charging but LED went out after 90mins. I decided (dont know why) to switch on and off at wall socket. LED now back on amber. have I damaged battery? am leaving it charging overnight
Guest nedge2k Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Guys you really are worrying far too much about this. The losses/gains in battery life will be that small that you'd never notice. If its new just charge it the the light goes green...but do it with the phone on so you can have a play. As long as you run it flat/charge it full every now and again you should never have a problem. I never have with any phone i've had
Guest pd.ryder Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Same here. Never had a battery problem caused by using it out of the box. I think I'd have burst if I'd had to wait for 16 hours!! Anyway Li-Ion batteries don't suffer like Ni-Cads did. Pre-installed dementia - no memory effect!!!
