How far is the Bluetooth receiving range?

One of the reasons for upgrading to the SPV E200 was the promise of being able to use the bluetooth connection to use the pass-through internet connection. I'd be able to sit in my living room downloading movie reviews or whatever.

This has sadly failed to work in that whilst I can successfully connect via ActiveSync and bluetooth, the connection only works in the room where my PC is - maybe just out into hall but dies by the time I reach my living room.

I have a Belkin class 1 100m range USB dongle and whilst I thought 100m was going to be markeing hype I thought I'd get 10m at least. The distance between my PC and my seat in the TV room is about only 5m, though there are two walls in the way.

Is this normal and all I can expect from a bluetooth network. Or is there something I can do to improve the reception range.

10M Max regardless of the power of your transmitter.

SPV E200 has a 10M-Class-Bluetooth

I was really dissapointed by this also, wanting to do exactly the same as you, but not strong enough. Infact if you open up one of the bluetooth services on your pc, you can see the signal strengh. Walk away from the pc and you'll see it bottom out in just a few metres. Oh well, at least I don't have to use the cradle, I always found it difficult getting my spv into the cradle!

I have a Moto Hs-810 headset & unless it is in your back pocket or closer it is useless. you loose almost all the speech if you are more than 5ft away from the E200 which is about the same as I got on a friends T28

I have an Msi class one adapter which gives me full full speed access all over my house upstairs and downstairs. I can leave my house and go out into my car park about 10 metres away through 2 thick concrete walls and still have streaming radio! im impressed! Posted from my SmartPhone!

MSI PC2PC Class one USB dongle(quite long and slim, £32), the packet says it can exceed 100m in an open environment. If I get the chance i'll test its range at work with my E-200 in an open corridor tomorow.

Previously I had the MSI class 2 USB dongle(£22 very small) which I replaced due it being absolutely rubbish. I couldnt go more than 7 meters away from my pc and if I went near my radiator it cut out and thats just behind my pc. I read the specifications for both of the devices and found that the Class one Adapter did not only push more hz(or whatever they were) it was more sensitive as well. I would say the class 2 adapter was just useless unless you just want to sit in front of your pc with you phone(I have only tried MSI).

The problem is, that the SPV E200 only supports class 2 (10 meter!)

if you have a class one dongle (100m), it still only connects 10 meter!

I get around 2 to 3 metres max with either a Belkin 10m or a Belikn 100m.

The range is bad, and it makes no difference which of the Bluetooth adaptors I use.

I guess it's only designed for nearby headsets or car kits.

Disappointing.
