Guest grossygrossy Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Greetings, I'm looking for a keyboard for the MPX200. Anyone know where I can get one :?: Thanks
Guest Shuflie Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 In thoery any USB keyboard (or joystick for that matter) sould be able to work with the MPx200 with an appropriate adaptor for the USB plug and a driver on the phone. I don't know of any that have been released for it yet though. I imagine that it won't take too long for them to start appearing, anyone want to bet that it will be an adaptation of the fabric keyboard for the SPV that will appear first?
Guest grossygrossy Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Thanks. Fabric Keyboard? Is that the one that you can literally roll up? Have you used it?
Guest Shuflie Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Sorry, I've only seen it sitting in the local orange shop with a dummy SPV sitting on it. I don't really have a need for a keyboard on my phone, for anything that I need to type into it the keypad and T9 or multitap work just fine for me.
Guest grossygrossy Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 Yeah, for me its more complicated. I am a salesperson and thus I am in the field all day. When I come home, there are 35 emails waiting for me. It would be nice to respond to a few pressing ones during the day while I am in the field. A keyboard in the car would be a nice addition to the phone, you dig? Thanks,
Guest Shuflie Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 I sympathise with you but until the manufacturers get their act together you are kind of stuck. The orignal SPV keyboard took about six months to appear but I'm sure with the size of the market for the MPx200 in the USA the first keyboards will start to appear pretty soon.
Guest kyrkesmith Posted November 30, 2003 Report Posted November 30, 2003 How certain do you reckon it is that a keyboard will appear for the MPx200? Is everyone just basing the chances on the fact that one came for the SPV? When that keyboard came, it suprised me a lot, I never expected an accessory like it. Do you really think that it's now something that's going to appear for every MS Smartphone? Isn't the SPV the only phone with an attachable keyboard available for it?
Guest gsr264 Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 I'd put money on it that you could cut off the connector on the spv keyboard, and wire in a mini-usb... any decent electrician guys out there???
Guest ranzz Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 But even if such wiring job will be taken, we don't know if the MPx200 has the keyboard's drivers, or if the SPV's driver compatible with it.
Guest kingronnie Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Thanks. Fabric Keyboard? Is that the one that you can literally roll up? Have you used it? I've got one for my SPV, it works really well. I got it 2nd hand off of ebay for £20. Worth every penny. I do get strange looks when using it on the train though! Ronnie
Guest grossygrossy Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 That's great. But the issue is whether it will work for the MPX200. You dig?
Guest mcwarre Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 But even if such wiring job will be taken, we don't know if the MPx200 has the keyboard's drivers, or if the SPV's driver compatible with it. True, But you can download the keyboard drivers OTA from Orange via Orange Update
Guest gsr264 Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 Anybody have the schematics for the keyboard in question?
