Guest Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Hey guys just trying this poll to see how many peoples new phones buzz compared to not buzzing. that way i can see if its worth trying to get a replacement.
Guest Brody Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 I voted no, i have heard very slight buzzing but it has in no way impaired my calls unlike the people who have complained so i felt i had to vote No.
Guest Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 my phone doesnt buzz badly all the time, just on really bassy and low sounds, i think its a resonance problem using dodgy speakers.
Guest rikwebb Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 My first one was very bad, so bad that all calls where difficult. The replacement still buzzes / rattles, but as posted above, only with low tones. Spoke to the wife, that wasnt too bad, but when speaking to a mate of mine that 'smokes 40 a day' ........ BAD !! Try dialing 150 and listen to the initial recorded voice, that is pretty bad on my replacement, BUT it was so bad on the first one that I couldnt make out what she said. Rik
Guest gameonthego Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 I dont think that is dodgy speakers cause it buzzes on handsfree as well as on my bluetooth headset. I reckon its the software that handles turning the digital info into sound and I reckon that it adds too much bass
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 Quite simply no it doesnt - thank god
Guest 4runner Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003  Another one of the lucky ones - No buzzing
Guest Coolboy1982 Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 my replacement buzzes, too. so do I get another vote?
Guest Coolboy1982 Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 if we add the yes and sometimes answers, it currently means that only one in three e200s does not buzz! That is sad. I'm getting my 3rd e200 today (2nd replacement), so statistically finally I should be lucky, but who knows...
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 Thats a bit of a jok eisnt it, i mean 3 new phones within the like a week :?: :!: You would have thought they check the replacemnts before sending then out huh :?: spacecowboy
Guest psneddon Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 My replacement buzzes worse than the first, if I called again and complained would I get another replacement, I don't have orange care. I don't know if I should keep trying to get replacements now or wait a few weeks untill there is maybee more change of getting a new batch.
Guest Coolboy1982 Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 Thats a bit of a jok eisnt it, i mean 3 new phones within the like a week :?: :!: You would have thought they check the replacemnts before sending then out huh :?: spacecowboy Well, the third one buzzes too. It arrived today. Complained again and this time some sort of "specialist" will call me back tomorrow or on Monday and then I'll probably get my 4th one. ;-) The lady I spoke to this time tried to sort me out by asking me to clean the battery's contacts with a pencil eraser... strange, but didn't help anyway. And as I also said in another thread: PLEASE SEND ALL YOU BUZZING PHONES BACK!!! AGAIN AND AGAIN! UNTIL THEY FIX THEM ALL (MAYBE VIA SOFTWARE UPDATE). Sorry for the screaming, but I get quite emotional on this issue ;-)
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 clean the battery's contacts with a pencil eraser My god - they're getting desperate  Your dead right though. I fenougyh phones get sent back, who knows  :!: spacecowboy
Guest Posted November 30, 2003 Report Posted November 30, 2003 when i called 150 about the buzzing they also told me to take out my battery and clean the contacts. i think its just cause of the stanard troubleshooting thing they have on their computers. to be fair to them though theyre only call centre employees who know nothing about phones or electronics. i asked to speak to technical support. they said no because they werent customer facing. All i wanted to do was talk to someone who had a fair idea of wht i was talking about. BTW i dont think the person i talked to had even seen an E200 before as she was making coments like "oh that looks like a nice phone" and "it has a long list of features" She said that orange were unaware of any problems like this on any other E200's and that it was probably just my phone, in fact the system didnt come up with any faults against it. I then mentioned that others were having the same problems, so what guarantee would i have for getting a replacement that didnt buzz. She said thatorange make sure all their phones are fine before they leave them. (Hmmm what about the ones that were sent to the shops!?!?!?!?!?!?!)
Guest bikespod Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003   :x this is bloody ridiculous. I've had 2 replacement e200's and both buzz badly. i then went thru a process of an operator taking my IMEI no and telling me i had a phone from a bad batch. He said orange were unsure about releasing at all :!: :!: :!: He also said he'd arrange a new one for me that will be tested and send me a text to confirm, as i was out of the country. NO text. Phoned up and had to rearrange with a diff operator. David in north tyneside 2, you are useless. There is clearly something badly wrong with this handset and noone is getting the same response from orange. WHAT'S GOING ON :!: :!: :!: why aren't we getting any answers :?: Is this handset fundamentally flawed? Is it a bad batch? Should someone point a PDA/phone mag at this site??? I know nothing of the politics here, but i'm damn sure i'm totally p**sed off with this situation. If i get another buzzing phone tommorow, its going back and that's it. Back to nokia, at least you can talk to people on their phones. there does however seem to be a similarity developing of orange staff replying with "orange are unaware of any problem with this handset, it must be just your handset...etc" anyone smell a whitewashed rat????
Guest Gnuig Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 I voted no, i have heard very slight buzzing but it has in no way impaired my calls unlike the people who have complained so i felt i had to vote No. You people!!! I don't think we will ever see a true result for the number of faulty handsets this way. I am one of the unlucky ones, and I still doubt there are actually 28% (as of now) 'good' handsets out there. Either you have a faulty one or you don't! That's my opinion anyway. Don't answer no, even if you are blinded by all the features, folks  PS. I personally think we should reset the poll, and make this point clear to everyone
Guest bikespod Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003                     What a surprise :!: A phone replacement with appalling sound quality. Sod this, its going back. :!:
Guest mattie01 Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 mine had the buzz to start off with, but the funny thing is that after i did a proper hard reset, on the phone, this being for other reasons.. (i started playing about with adding a sig to my texts. then it decided it wouldn't let me remove the damn thing grrrr) anyway back to the point after the hard reset any buzzing that i had has vanished completly
Guest Hax Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Bah - just tried a hard reset but the slight buzz I get (mainly on 150) is still there.... Guess you were just lucky mattie01 Hax
Guest mattie01 Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 gah... sorry hax, hope you didn't too stuff.... but yeah i must have been lucky then.... sorry  just out of curiosity.. the hard reset that you did was it using the accesories/clear storage or was it the proper power off and hold the two buttons way?
Guest Hax Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Proper power off way.... Nah nothing lost - just contacts, but that's the beauty of these phones, plug them into the PC and way-hey - got your contacts/appointments/tasks back  Hax
Guest nato Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Any updates on this...I've just rang 150 and they have said it's faulty.Sending replacement tomorrow, but having read this thread.....
