Guest tricky6 Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Hi, I'm having problems getting my E200 to work with the standard BMW Bluetooth carphone option (on May build 03 reg 3-series). It all works fine with my Nokia 6310i so I'm not sure if I'm doing something stupid or it just isn't compatible for some reason (and hence will need to be sent back which will be a shame because the rest of the phone is great) So... I put the phone in Discoverable mode and set the car bluetooth into "pair" mode to get the car to find the phone. Nothing happens, the car just sits there trying to "pair" and never does. This is where I believe the car is supposed to "see" the phone and I have to type the car's PIN number on the phone's screen to complete the pairing (which is the way it works on the Nokia). I can get the E200 to "see" the car but only by running the "bond with device" option which is where the phone trys to bond with a bluetooth device. This does ask for a PIN number, but for the E200 not the car. It does seem to recognise that the car is a "headset" device. One other thing that's on my mind is that my Nokia can't see the E200 either if I search (for audio accessories). As with the car however my E200 can "see" the Nokia when I try to bond with it. Has anyone got their E200 working with a BMW set up or have any ideas what I might be doing wrong. Any help or ideas much appreciated. Thanks, Richard.
Guest rikwebb Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Hi, I have tried my E200 on my mates brand new BMW bluetooth car kit. We cant get it to work either! My own beemer has the Parrot BT kit in, which works with the widest range of phones, but that doesnt work with the e200. The standard BMW kit is only made to work with the Nokia 6310i and some obscure Erricson phone. BMW state that others 'may work', but will proberbly have limited functionality. Sorry dude, until MS get their finger out and fix the BT for the e200, I dont think you stand a chance. Rik
Guest tricky6 Posted November 27, 2003 Report Posted November 27, 2003 Thanks Rik. I can usually get to grips with technology but thought I was going mad!? Nice one. I might hang onto it anyway, perhaps my battery will last more than a day without BT on... Richard.
Guest cepheus1 Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 Same problems and same frustration! I've got an June 03 BMW with factory installed bluetooth prep. I've been using my original SPV for real life and swopping the sim into an 8910 when in the car which has been paired with my BMW. I've been using bluetooth for ages in as many things as possible but I just can't get the BMW to find my SPV E200! I don't believe the issue is the BMW kit just the fault of the SPV - AGAIN!! I really thought my days of swapping sims was finished when I got my new SPV! Really P$%&*£! OFF!
