As a long term Nokia user (groan) and having two 7250's and a 7250i, I think I can fairly safely say that you CAN'T...

The IR on a 7250 will allow the sending and recieving of contacts/business cards (and I'm not sure if these must even be from ANOTHER Nokia for even that to work), and a remote data connection in terms of a data modem, or syncronisation using Nokia PC Suite, or third party software such as MobiMB, Oxygen Phone Manager etc - i.e. a data connection to a PC.

The sending and recieving of images, and for that matter even standard ringtones, is not supported by IR.

Or having re-read your post, were you implying that with the SPV being Windows CE based, that the Nokia could 'talk' to this in the way it talks to a PC by way of a suitable application?

If so, then I apologise, but also say that as a new SPV user admittedly, I still have never heard of such an app. just yet anyway...

Not that I can think of, without a specific app being written for the SPV, and even then I'm not so sure, cos Smart Explorer allows IR beaming of files FROM the SPV. The problem, as I indicated, is that the 7250/i is not a device designed to receive this way.

In general PC Software is what currently bridges the gap, allowing a data connection to be made to the Nokia, and thus files sent.

So, it means it is possible hardware wise, just not by design on the phone itself.

If all you have is a 7250, and a SmartPhone or whatever device it was you mentioned, then I can't see any way. You can't even Email it to the phone, and MMS attachments on the Nokia can only be text, picture, and ringtone...

Sorry, but given a readily accepted limitation of Series 40 type Nokias, images and in your case, java apps, cannot be beamed direct to it, without PC and software. Unless or until someone writes suitable apps for a smarthphone to handshake with a 7250...

The only long winded suggestion I can think of is this:

Email them (assuming your device will let you) to a friend that has his own free webspace.

Get him to upload them to his webspace that is WAP compatible (ISP dependent this bit)

Get the link/address from him direct to the java app he just uploaded.

Visit this address via WAP on your 7250.

If this was uploaded correct, and all settings are correct with his ISP for WAP etc, then visiting the link will result in the phone asking if you want to download and install the java app to your device.

It CAN work like this, but I warn you outright - it is fiddly, and dependent on a lot of things you might have no external control over...

Er, I thought you said that you never HAD a PC, and this was the problem for you?

If you have a PC mate, you can pick up an IRDA USB adaptor now for less than £20 including delivery these days mate.

So not just simple, but cheap too.

I just thought you said your problem was that you don't HAVE a PC, hence the need for an imaginative work-around.

Nevertheless, pleased you got it sorted - enjoy, and if you want any stuff for it, mail me.

Ah you see... That's the problem with signatures...

So many people never bother to read them...

Doh.... I spent way too much time reading the context of your thread, and not enough reading the signature/footer for your machine specs.

I'd kick myself, but past experience suggests I would probably miss
