Guest Pagemakers Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 Anyone else having problems connecting to some websites while using GPRS? My E200 and Moto have been having problems for two days. I connect intermittantly to the sky website, the orange portal, this site and my own server, which I know is working, together with a host of other sites. It just sticks on "connecting . . " If I use passthrough or dial up the sites work fine straight away. There is no problem downloading email. I think Orange has got some cache problems on their gprs network. Anyone else experiencing the same? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Dectomax Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 Yep, Mine just sticks on 'connecting' most of the time. !!
Guest Simon Desser Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 Yeah, I think part of their fix for the "Stuck on dialling" problem, was to remove the word "Dialling" so now it gets stuck on "Connecting" instead
Guest maxh2003 Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 I think Orange has got some cache problems on their gprs network. I agree, I was trying to use GPRS quite a bit yesterday and kept thinking it had failed, much like my old SPV. When I actually came to leave the thing for a few minutes, it eventually got the page I'd requested - and this was repeatable, even though it took a long time, every single click I made *eventually* brought back the page I wanted. Towards midnight last night it was much faster than it was at (say) 7pm. Therefore I think this is down to Orange's network too...? Example: just now it took the thing 30 seconds or more to download the BBC News homepage without graphics. But it did it correctly first time. I wish Imeter worked on E200, just so I could check that those 30 seconds weren't spent uploading or downloading irrelevant/pointless data, thus racking up GPRS charges...
Guest matth Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 Must be a problem with the orange gprs network. I've had exactly the same problem with my good old fashioned SPV. Glad it's not handset specific. seemed ok for a bit in liverpool last night.
Guest rikwebb Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 Just spoke to O, there is a problem at the moment, they are working on it. I cant send MMS pictures at the moment, and when the lady at O tried to send me one, that didnt work as well. Could be IMHO, cos we all have new phones and are trying them out, we have proberbly overloaded them. It wouldnt take much as their system is highly utilised anyway. Rik
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 Some sites my Moto can find while the E200 cant. I guess thats because they are on different GPRS nodes. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest martin Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 Some sites my Moto can find while the E200 cant. I guess thats because they are on different GPRS nodes. Both phones will be using the same GPRS serving node but the calls could be routed through different gateway nodes although I don't think this will be the problem. I've noticed there are times when I have NO problems whatsoever with certain internet sites and then it goes from very slow data transfer to constant connecting. Strangely enough Orange world seems to be one of those sites so at least it means that Orange will be keen to get it sorted. Most internet sites don't seem to be have this problem so its a strange one. Lets hope Orange find the problem soon.
Guest Pagemakers Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 Odd. The moto finds sites that the spv does not . . . at the same time. The spv took 2 mins to load this page. The spv still cant find sky, orange or about fifty percent of the sites I normally use. I have just called Orange and they have no idea what I am talking about. Posted from my SmartPhone
