Guest salad_tosser Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 am i correct in understanding that the mpx200 is NOT locked for at&t users, such that any unsigned apps can run on the mpx200? if so, i know this is lame, but how do i lock it?
Guest Thor79 Posted November 30, 2003 Report Posted November 30, 2003 yeah the AT&T phones aren't application locked (though they are sim locked of course)...though I'm not sure how you would go about locking them... I assume you're wanting to know so you can keep your phone free of bad apps and virii...
Guest salad_tosser Posted November 30, 2003 Report Posted November 30, 2003 yes, keep it free of such things.
Guest alphaflux Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 You could always use the "lock" script from http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=97152. This will set your phone to the default lock conditions of the Orange operator in the UK, but will not allow you to run unsigned applications. PLEASE make sure you take a copy of your current settings first! From what I know of the default AT&T permissions, the "unlock" script should offer a little more protection than you currently have, and will also allow unsigned applications to run, but have yet to see the actual released settings from AT&T so would need to verify this first. I would be intersted to see what the default AT&T security permissions are. If you have time, would you mind posting them ?
Guest Shuflie Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 Would this not cause problems since the AT&T doesn't actually have the certificates present on the phone? Worth a go though if you are worried, a hard reset should wipe any changes to the phone, make sure you know that you can set everything up the way it was before you started messing around.
