Guest HailingBoris Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 Hi, I am having huge problems with my SPV slowing right down etc. (opening the menus can take up to 5 minutes and still no guarantee of it doing what you asked!) so I thought I would attempt a hard reset. I am now having problems doing the hard reset - nothing appears to happen with any of the methods I have seen on these forums. The process I am using is: 1) Remove battery to power off for 30 secs 2) Switch on with both voice record and action held down 3) At press any key prompt, press and hold action button/voice record If I use any other process it simply takes me to the 3 colour screen. Using the above process the screen goes completely white and nothing else happens. What else can I do?
Guest martin Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 Getting into the bootloader can sometimes be a liitle tricky. Basically.... First make sure that your battery is charged. It's not advised to attempt hard reset on low battery as the phone a bit of work to do on re-boot. 1. Power off phone 2. Press and hold down both voice record and power on button for a few seconds. When the phone starts to boot release buttons. 3. If there is a SD card installed you first will see a 'Card found' Message. 4. As soon as you see 'Press any ket to enter bootloader' quickly press and hold down the action button until the bootloader menu appears. If you accidently press any of the left/right/up/down buttons next to the action button it will jump straight to the canary screen and you will have to start again. 5. Select Erase IPSM from the menu. 6. From bootloader menu screen press and down the power button for a few seconds and the SPV will boot up. Important: After the hard reset is completed the SPV can take several minutes to boot up. Don't panic  That should do it
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 30, 2003 Report Posted November 30, 2003 Also it's very important to have a storage card in the phone as it slows down the process of getting to the bootloader menu. Also I would suggest that after pressing the Action button wait until the screen goes white before releasing it. You also do not need to remove the battery at any time during a hard reset,
Guest coulhaus Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 Also it's very important to have a storage card in the phone as it slows down the process of getting to the bootloader menu. Do you mean that you should or shouldn't have a storage card installed when you hard reset?
Guest mattat Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 As far as I understand it - you SHOULD have a SD card in the phone as it gives you more time to press the correct buttons (slowing down the bootloader being a good thing here)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 Yep that's why I posted  "Also it's very important to have a storage card in the phone"
