Guest HurricaneDave Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 any one got any plans to make a smartphone version of WinUAE (amiga emulator) :?: it needs to be able to play the standard amiga disk images.. .ADF i think? is this even possible? Regards Dave
Guest UKMadBeef Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 Although I question the possibility of this for a number of reasons, it would kick *so* much ass.
Guest nCoder Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 I would have thought emulating the custom graphics chips would be a little too resource intensive for the phones at the moment.
Guest Palindrome Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 Having an Amiga on my phone! Wow. Although (in my most ignorant) opinion I agree with nCoder.
Guest midnight Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 commodore 64 maybe, amiga...unlikely
Guest DMF Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Not a chance ..... soon as you hit a command for the copperlist ya screwed. Home PC's have the welly and the cusom cards to handle the emulation - smartphone would just grind to a halt. I dont even think it could handle the c64 - that border would take some serious hacking to fit such a size screen on smartphone. On the flipside.... Directory opus (although unusuable) would be kinda sweet  - come back in 5 years for this one folks lol .... when we are running 1 gig chips in our phones and we actually get Mame to run :D
Guest midnight Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 errr, doesnt the c64 use 160 x 200 mode for games (rectangular pixels), using some clever rescaling trickery, as seen in the nes port, i would think getting games to fit on the smartphone display shouldnt be a big problem, and most should run at full speed, theres no massively complex chips inside the c64, unlike the custom gfx and sound chips inside the amiga.
Guest spacemonkey Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 c64 would be reasonably achievable, I know a port of it exists on p800 which is similar performance... not sure how well that port runs though. Amiga??? only thing I can say is HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Guest midnight Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Amiga??? only thing I can say is HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA indeed, although, the news of the omap1710 processor is interesting, 40% improvement in the processor, so if 132mhz is 40% improved, imagine a 200mhz omap1710, and battery life should still be better than that of the current spv. 200mhz + 40% performance incresease+hardware multitasking should make some inroads towards amiga emulation, include mobile direct x and 320 x 200 res and we are getting there (all of this promised for 2004) oh, and just for the hell of it.... atari st emu on pocketpc
