Guest dshaugney Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 Prelude.... My girlfriend got ripped off at single point a few weeks ago. She was convinced that they have a great offer on a sharp phone so she went for it. She rang her friend who got the same deal from Phones4U and alot cheaper! Within 2 hours she rang back and asked to cancel her order. The sales assured her it will be taken care of.... Two days later the phone arrived... so she sent it back. They appologised for the hickup. Now she received a bill for the first month of her usage... she's confused and I was angry. Today... Called today and finally reached sales. I argued that you have 14 days in which to cancel anything you bought over the phone. They agreed but they said they would only terminate the contract if after they receive a written letter. What followed was a brief exchange of rude words. I said as far as I know when you terminate a contract you have to pay the remaining 12 months' line rental... The guy on the other end said that the termination only takes 30 days and you are only liable for the line rental and calls you spend during that time. After they cut you off you don't need to pay a penny! So now I'm pondering: Do you, or do you not have to pay the rest of the line rental for the year? And if not, what prevents me from getting an MPX200 for free on Ornage and then just writing the to them to terminate the contract. Only pay one month's fee.... hmmm. Can enyone in the know please enlighten me?
Guest dshaugney Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 Oh yes.... what happened in the end... They said she is free to mirgate her contract onto any other tariff, and she can keep her number. We'll go to phones4u and get it sorted. She's happy, and I'm happy.
Guest dshaugney Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 Oh wait...got it. Early termination: In the event that your Network contract ends within 120 days from the date of connection for any reason (including but not confined to disconnection or non-payment of bills), we reserve the right to charge you any commission clawed back by the Network and/or the prevailing "SIM Free" price of any handset supplied and/or Free Gifts supplied. At our discretion we may accept the return of goods in lieu if in good condition. OUCH
