Guest fuctifino Posted November 30, 2003 Report Posted November 30, 2003 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i have updated my rom to from the orange to the iMate 1.50 rom . As far as i am aware this rom update network unlocks the phone (true or not ?!?!?!?!?). No such luck. i have downloaded the spv unlocking program and run it .. this gets to 100% but the messege returned tells me that the number that is retrieved is not what is expected .. and the prog ends . i previously used the unlocker on my original spv without any probs at all .. does anyone know a fix to unlock this phone ? this is worth cash to someone to find a successful solution !!! i have 4 days to do it .. but no cradle ... just to make things that little more challenging !!!
Guest hecatae Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 :?: run that past me again? You upgraded to imate, tested another network sim and it did not work?
Guest fuctifino Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 yeah fraid so .. this is why i am stood before you. normally can look after myself on these kinda things.. HELP.. i will try goin back to original ROM .. but my memory is telling me that the unlocker failed and this is why i upgraded to the iMate ROMin the first place. :?
Guest yoos Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 Did you do a hard reset after the IMate install? I believe it should be sim unlocked...
Guest hecatae Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 do i need to do a hard reset to sim unlock? just tested my vodafone sim and same problem still sim locked. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest yoos Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 To be honest I'm not 100% sure, but I personally believe it's cleaner if you do a hard reset after a ROM update. I know it's a pain, but it's worth a try...
Guest techsupp1001 Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 You must run the SPVunlock program in bootloader mode and the bootloader version should not be higher than 0.98 otherwise the spvunlock program will not work. If your phone is sim-lock prior to installing the I-Mate 1.5 Rom then your phone will still be locked after installation. Just installing the I-Mate 1.5 ROM will not sim-unlock your phone. You will need to enter the unlocking code to unlock the phone. However, if your phone is already sim-unlocked before you installed I-Mate, then your phone will remain unlocked after installation. I'm using I-Mate 1.5 too and had similar experience.
Guest yoos Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 I am glad you cleared that up because I was always under the impression that the I-Mate install sim unlocked your phone....
Guest hecatae Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 only been able to downgrade to 0.99. that was the swiss update. anything else i can try? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest PsychoDave Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 There's always the 1.3.5.6 update from www.monolithix.org. Beware though if you have an e100 then you won't be able to boot past the sunset screen. It gives you the 0.98 bootloader which works with the Sim Unlock program. I did it this way (on a e100) and then after I had my unlock code I installed the I-mate update from the canary screen to get to 1.5, put in my o2 sim and put in the unlock code that I had aquired from the Sim Unlock proggie and it was all good. Hope that helps  as always though if you aren't sure about what you are doing then ask lots of questions and make sure you know what you are about to do cause a fried phone ain't nice :) Best of luck :D
Guest techsupp1001 Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 @PsychoDave Is it possible to change ROM from I-Mate 1.508 to Q-Tek 1.509 directly without doing a downgrade first? I used Q-tek before and I downgraded that to version 1.3.7 then upgraded to I-Mate 1.5.08 . I thought that was the right way to go. Anyway, I do not plan to change my ROM version again but just in case would that be possible?
Guest PsychoDave Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 The only reason I downgraded first was to get to the 0.98 version bootloader. Since you've already sim unlocked your phone there's no need to do the downgrade. You can change your ROM from Q-Tek to I-mate or vice versa with no probs at all. (Well, theres always gonna be some problems but thats what makes it all fun :D ) Did you copy your 0.98 bootloader onto an SD card just in case? Handy to have  Hope that helps :)
