Guest J273 Posted November 30, 2003 Report Posted November 30, 2003 Im interested in putting ebooks on my phone but would like to know which is the best ebook software to use,Thanks
Guest Emad Posted November 30, 2003 Report Posted November 30, 2003 MobiPocket is quite nice, as is orneta reader (cheaper too). Speedread plus is kinda funky, but actually works quite well. Try it.
Guest Maverick Posted November 30, 2003 Report Posted November 30, 2003 u have ur headlights on..mate ;-)
Guest J273 Posted November 30, 2003 Report Posted November 30, 2003 Hee hee hee,Thanks for the info Emad i think ill go for the mobipocket reader
Guest davy Posted November 30, 2003 Report Posted November 30, 2003 mobipocket reader does not yet work fully on E200 as it will not give you a PID. davy.
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 With MobiPocket on the SPV Canary, is it possible to read eBooks from the SD card ? If so, where are the settings ?
Guest davy Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 With MobiPocket on the SPV Canary, is it possible to read eBooks from the SD card ? If so, where are the settings ? Yes you can read them from the sd card. I have a folder on my sd card named "ebooks" but I don't remember if the program installed it there on installation or if I moved or created it myself  Anyway at least you now know it works  , davy.
Guest Disco Stu Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 Thanks davy, I'll have a play with it
Guest J273 Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 So does mobipocket reader Work properly on the E200 as that is what im wanting to use it on,thanks
Guest davy Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 It works fine for free books and demos (in the Mobipocket format) but when you buy a book it is matched to your device by a PID number so that only that particular device can read it. Mobipocket quickly fixed the original smartphone version as it did not read the PID on release so hopefully they will fix for E200 soon. davy. p.s. I haven't contacted them yet owing to their complicated website contact system and I cannot find a direct E-mail address.
Guest J273 Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 so if ive already got an ebook on my comp it would work then, also is it possible to view normal ebooks or do they have to be special oned for the spv's screen size.
Guest davy Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 I don't think that because you already have it on your PC that it will work. When you install the reader to the phone it provides your particular phone with a unique PID number which you then register with Mobipocket. When you buy an e-book from Mobipocket it is encrypted to only work on the phone with that PID number. As far as I know only Mobipocket format e-books work with the Mobipocket reader. davy.
Guest Lopio Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 My problem with mobi pocket reader is that every time i reformat my IPSM i get a new PID on my reader, so i have to redownload everything i bought from mobi pocket
Guest ixtab Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Mobipocket stores the PID in a file under /Windows (as far as I can remember), you should be able to save the file and re-use it :D
Guest Junez Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 Not really a fan of Orneta because it seems to crash alot when opening larger txt files. iSilo seems to do a great job, gotta but it in 27 days, my trial continues :D
Guest cxkx Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 I use isilo and Repligo. Repligo is quite good , plus u can convert any document in its format just by printing it in repligo's virtual printer. It also supports images which isilo doesn't.
