Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 If you guys have got friends or family abroad then your in luck. Just got a text from Orange giving me £5 wroth of free calls abroad  "Hello from Orange. If you'd like £5 of free calls to friends or family abroad this December reply YES to this message, free, before 7 December." An early Christmas Pressie from them lol :?: :!: spacecowboy
Guest Brody Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 I want that message, hang on, who would i call!?
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 According to the sender its 1104. Give 156 a call lol.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted December 1, 2003 Report Posted December 1, 2003 Just sent YES to 1104.... it works ;-) P
Guest comebackdx Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Sent the YES message to 1104 and it works - I got the following reply "Hello from Orange. Thank you, from 9 December you'll have £5 of free Calling Abroad Minutes to use within 30 days." Cheers!
Guest TonyL Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Just heard rumour that the text costs you £3. true?
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Just heard rumour that the text costs you £3. true? Even if it did, you'd still be getting £2 calling credit for free :D Glad I could be of service boys  spacecowboy
Guest Weslington Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 This is great! I wonder if they were going to send texts to everyone? Stupid question tho: will this free credit work the other way round ie. calling/recieving from abroad?
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 It takes a while jlo  if not phone up and complain hehe
Guest Brody Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Does it work for PAYG customers? A friend of mine asked...
Guest ajb3000 Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 would be useful if I knew someone abroad to call, lol
Guest fozzie Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Does it work for PAYG customers? A friend of mine asked... Why doesn't he just try it? :?
Guest Brody Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 I'm sure he'll get the text but will he get the talk time? Surely a PAYG account has a different call time setup to that of a pay monthly contract?
Guest Richie M Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 :D thanks for this spacecowboy ican now call my sister in Florida and my aunty in Perth on Christmas Day
Guest abamara Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 Just tried it and it worked for me too. Got the response 2 minutes later.
Guest JHarte Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 Are you guys sure this isn't a scam? I'd hate for everyone to do it just to find out the message costs £5 or something and you don't really get anything. Has anyone that's done this had a bill in recently?
Guest paddy_mcnulty Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 Hi guys, I've just got off the phone to Orange. The offer is NOT actually £5 of free calls. It is not very clear on the text that you receive from them about this. Apparently you will be charged for the reply text (eg Yes) and then this will give 20% OFF CALLS TO EUROPE ONLY. :!: :!: :!: It is not really free calls but that you buying a discount token that can save you UP TO £5 on European calls. That's what the guy from Orange CS said. He said anybody who has said yes mistakenly can reverse their deicsion calling Orange and saying that they misunderstood and don't want to be part of the Scheme - this is as long as you having used it yet. To quote orange man, "sounds like a bit of scam to me", "of the joys of sales"...Erm  Anyone heard anything different from Orange CS (well you know how it changes with each call you make to them...)
Guest James Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 Yep, it worked in the end for me.... i was just a bit quick with the post... Just need to find somone to call...

Guest summie Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 OK Hold on to your seats - O just gave me £4 off each of my bills for 12 months - no extension of contract necessary and they called me!
Guest Richie M Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 Spacecowboy, can you post a screen shot of the original SMS or the complete text? Because if what paddy_mcnulty says is true, then there should be terms and conditions on the SMS or a link for further details :? (especially if the reply SMS costs more than a normal SMS)
Guest paddy_mcnulty Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 Yeah, I think there should be also but thats why I think the guy from Orange CS said what he said. I'm hoping the Orange CS guy is wrong as it'd good to call some friends Asia for over Christmas (and would be nice if Ornage all gave loyal customers a little Xmas pressie for a change!)
