Guest theodore Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 I've been accessing the internet/email on my SPV E200 while it is in it's cradle. I understand this means that I can use my PC's broadband connection and therefore save money on GPRS costs. Is there a way to tell that this is definitely happening? I've still got the little G symbol on the phone to indicate that GPRS is still on but how can I tell that it's not being used and that everything is coming through the USB cable instead? I just don't want to be hit with a massive bill at the end of the month just because I thought that I was using my PC's internet connection but in reality I was still receiving websites through GPRS. If everything is OK and I am connecting through the PC. Can I then use my bluetooth connection to view the web on my PDA (Sony Clie PEGUX50) using the connected SPV as modem?
Guest martin Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 If you have small G in the top right then you are using the GPRS network  To use the PC broadband connection you must set the SPV Internet Connection to 'pass through'. Goto Programs- Settings - Data Connections Set Internet connection=Pass through connector. Now when you surf the internet on the SPV it won't show the small G
Guest JoelRae Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 The "G in a square" icon just shows your phone is capable of using GPRS. If you are actually using it, the 4 bar signal indicator shows a very small G on it, similar to the tiny phone if you're in a call. Is that clearer? Can't imagine you'd be using GPRS by accident... surely you'd notice the "dialling..." screen?
Guest The Gimp Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 I cant get the pass-thru to work on my SPV200. Does anyone have a note of their connection settings ?
Guest sponge Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 I followed this and it seems to be working me for http://www.coolsmartphone.com/index.php?op...tid=29&Itemid=3
Guest X-mania Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 I too am having trouble using the pass through connection on the E200... Have followed instructions via link but still no joy - Any1 else have any ideas? :?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 17, 2003 Report Posted December 17, 2003 This is based on the 2002 but should be the same or similar. Once you have chosen Passthrough in Data Connections in IE make sure Automatically Detect Settings is not ticked in MenuConnections.
Guest Colonel Trouble Posted July 24, 2004 Report Posted July 24, 2004 what Ive done (and just figured out in the last 5 mins :P) Is go into settings , and select "pass through connection" . On my mpx200 this seems to be working a treat.
