Orange shop advertising 2003

I went in to my local Orange shop the other day and they had signs up saying that the MPx200 runs WM2003. The manageress wasn't forthcoming with whether this was correct or not, so I asked to play with a handset. Sure enough it was 2002. After further interrogation the manageress admitted that she knew about the anomaly. Why did she try to cover it up then?

I think this is bad because those people new to Smatphones wouldn't know the difference. They might make a decision to get an MPx200 rather than an SPV because of this (not that that's a bad thing!), only to find that it's not running 2003 after all.

There have been numerous threads on this subject, do a search and you can find a wealth of information. However, to sum up. The MPx200 was originally designed to run WM2003, which is good news for future upgrades and bribing Orange! , but before release Motorola opted for a more stable "tweaked" WM2002 build.

Motorola will release a new version of the phone next year. The MPx220, which will run WM2003.

Sorry, I tried to do a search but it crashed internet explorer three times in a row!

Just tried it and it works now.

Orange have also advertised that this phone can

"Take, send and receive photos with a built-in or attachable camera"

This is advertised as one of the main selling points of the phone in an official Orange publication so I'll be pushing for my free camera if my MPx200 arrives without one

Which it will. The camera is not built in and a definate add on I am afraid. The latest figures are showing the camera to cost about £80 too, which is a hell of a lot of money for what it is. If you do manage to get Orange to give you a free camera though ... let us know !
