Guest dom Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Hi all, Just wondering if any of you have had the E200 last more than 24 hours on a charge (having used it for calls, bluetooth, and the PDA functionality)? I'm still wobbling between the MPx200 and E200 and battery life is pretty important in the decision.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 If battery life is an important factor, it has to be the MPx every time. If however the new OS, snappier response, bluetooth and camera are for you (at the expense of battery life), then go for the E200  P
Guest glynton Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 I had a go with an E200 the other day and noticed that the Radio stays connected to GPRS. Is this a bug? Is this what's pissing away the battery juice?

So I have to stop my dithering and make a decision.
Guest blewer Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 E200 last more than 24 hours
Guest xanadu Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Get a Motorola V500  Standby up to 6 days, according to Orange. :D
Guest xanadu Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 I didn't consider the E200 as my next phone partly due to the standby time. Say for example , i am away from home on business, and I leave my charger at home..............the next day I am going to have to leave my E200 switched off unless i need to make a call, due to the impending demise of the battery. As a business phone the E200 is totally impractible. Looking forward to getting my Motorola V500 in January. :D If i need SPV features then i will still keep that as a backup.

Guest morpheus2702 Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Xanadu - how many threads do you have to say you are getting a V500 on?

Hold down the home key for three seconds and you get a new short menu option 1 disconnects GPRS Battery lasting about a day - getting use to charging every night! Best regards Andy
Guest dom Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 So, is this something that is likely to be improved by a s/w update (as with the original SPV)? Probably not something anyone can answer other than speculation based on Orange's previous performance with regard to releasing updates. Have you any ideas Paul? Otherwise it looks like the MPx200 - I want a phone that is good as a phone but I'm also intent on s/w dev for it.... I guess it'll be eVC++3.0 + MPx200 for SP2k2 dev, and eVC++4.0 + emulator for SP2k3 dev. Then maybe a move to a real SP2k3 device when either MPx220 (if real) comes out (assuming it performs as well as MPx200 does with SP2k2), or when E200 or its successor is capable of sustaining 24hours with some usage (24 hours isn't such a tough requirement to meet I wouldn't have thought).... I suppose my original question could be made more specific about the E200 though... my requirements would be to: Switch on/take off charge at 4:30am Switch Bluetooth on and leave it on 'til 8pm Make 20 - 40 mins calls Back on charge at about 9pm Can it be done?!?
Guest Leo_dee Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 Had mine on standby over the weekend, no calls in or out and zero other usage. Got about 40 hours from it.
