hi, just up dated my SPV e100 with a 1.7 rom from smart web site.. I only found out after reading in here that i should not have even tried.

After the rom was loaded, i did a hard reset as i was told. waited 30 seconds, pluged the battery back and tried to turn the phone on. The phone does nothing, the little LED does not lite, no display, just a click on the speaker   . Is there anything i can do or is it buggered? I am trying to send it back under warranty tomrrow.

welcome to the world of paperweighted phones.

a manual flash (as done at hayes) is the ONLY solution. basically you should not have done it!

What would happen if you played stupid and sent it off under Orange Care (if you have it)?

Funny you ask.. I spent 20 mins on the phone to orange care after I killed an e100, trying to explain that I HAD MESSED AROUND WITH THE BOOTLOADER.. the lady was like 'what?' - all i wanted was hayes number and how to get it repaired, but she found it as a fault, and arranged a replacement..

I was not after a replacement!! i'd love to know what the repairers thought when they looked at it (unless they just re-flash as a procedure).

So you can try orange care, but be sure to explain what YOU DID, then noone will try to come back to you if they find a wierd rom on it.

Good luck.

Hi

Thanks for the advice. However, i didn't have Orange care. Orange said i could replace it for £30 and i had to sign up 12 month insurance or send it back under warranty. I sent it back Hays under warranty. Just got it back yesterday 12/12/03. They had to change the main board they were unable to re flash it.

Just completed network unlocking it and update to the firmware to orange uk 1.6 and every thing is now sweet! even used the E200 software unlock too!

Bloody hell, they had to replace the main board? Hard to believe that a crapped up ROM update can blow the phone like that!

as long your SPV E100 can go to canary mode (three color screen) and can communicate with your pc, you can always revive a phone that was flashed by mistake or interrupted during the upgrade.

what is a bootloader menu? Sorry, but I am too new to know what that is. All I know is the phone cannot be power on, nothing happen when I plug in my charger. It doesn't seems to be contact when I put on the cradle. So any chance that I can get it working?

And how can I get into canary mode (three color screen) ? Many thanx to you guys.

Thanx for all your advice and tutorial, I've learn alot. Actually, I've an orange spv and an E100, I try the link that pzee gave me ( Thanx first) and it works on my Original SPV, but me E100, I am still unable to get into bootloader menu (Nothing comes up when I press and hold the voice record button with the power button). However, Does anyone know where I can ship to for repair and around how much will it cost. I know someone mention Hayes before and do they have a website that I can get more of their info. Thanx alot for you support and help !!!
