Guest cyrilthefish Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 I've just read in one of the 1.6 udate threads that the update will contain an extremely restricted bootloader (no SD card backups possible, no USBterm support) and i was wondering what the reasoning for this is? The first thing i did when i got my e100 was to restore the original bootloader (0.98 i think) from my old SPV to enable me to backup the IPSM regulary and without a PC. The SPV does very occasionly wipe the IPSM when booting up (has happened to me about 4 times this year) so i carry around my old 32mb MMC card with a backup of the IPSM incase it happens when i'm out. the new bootloader prevents these backups from working  why not just include a non-crippled bootloader?
Guest madu Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Yeah I second that! Crap innit?? Sorry a bit offtopic, but: What kind of a bootloader is there in WM2003?
Guest drblow Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Why not release a proper back-up system for the PC that allows a FULL IPSM backup??
Guest morpheus2702 Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 Why is the backup function disabled for Smartphone? Great feature on Pocket PCs!
