I was just wondering if there is anyone who used to have a buzzing handset and has had it replaced by OCS for one that doesnt buzz?

What is the difference in sound quality?? is it clearer as wel as not buzzing??

I'm on my second phone and it buzzes just as much as the first.

Keep an eye on the S/N number - some users in Modoca are trying to figure out which batches have the problem. I got a replacement phone with the same batch number as my first.

hard reset has done nothing.

I bought my e200 from onestopphoneshop. I phoned Orange today about the buzzing and they are sending out a new handset tomorrow.

Why are you sending it back to onestop?

Hi There

Here's my story.. for what it's worth.. !

My SPV was already a DMR (different model replacement) for the Panasonic X70 which was a pants phone !.....

Anyway... having decided on the SPV E200, and paid the extra, I was very disappointed to find the buzz - to me that made the phone really unusable as I had trouble understanding some of the people I called. If all your calls are to high-pitched people, then I guess you are OK !... mind you just try calling 150 - its TERRIBLE.

Orange replaced the phone once, and the second one had the identical problem. They then said they wouldnt replace it again as I had to go back to the Orange Retail Store (apparently the first replacement was a mistake as I should have gone back to the store anyway) !

I phoned the store... and told them the problem. They were very sympathetic, and said they would replace it for me again as Orange had already given me a fault code for phone number 2 !. I explained the fault to them, and asked them to check that any potential replacement was not faulty too. They checked a random sample of their stock, and found they ALL had the problem. The assistant was really surprised at how pants the quality was, and she agreed straight away that we should not be accepting this... in her words it sounded like a 'second hand car radio' !

She is calling round the other Orange stores to see if anyone has a newer batch... they have quite a few left at her store and they all have the problem, and they are unlikely to get new stock until theirs runs out.

If she finds a phone of a significantly different batch number, she will get it sent to her store and try it out herself to see if it is OK. If it is then i get to replace my phone with a working one (at last).... if not then I must very reluctantly go and replace it anyway with another one that I know is faulty too.

Why would I do this, you ask ? The thing is, that i MUST do this, even though I know the replacement to be faulty, as I must start to 'clock up' the same error on the phones I am given, to allow myself to get yet another Different Model Raplacement.

I do not want a different model, but i would advise you all to be careful, as after 28 days, if you do not pay for 'orange care', you are no longer entitled to anything much, and are stuck with what you have.

I would urge you all to consider if you have the problem, whether you can or should live with it. If you can, then fine. If you cant (and why should you ??), then you really need to stand your ground and maybe orange will sort something out - I am sure they know of this and have already got the phone amended to fix this, although they are hardly likely to contact all users and voluntarily replace the handset.

Good luck to you all, and even though you know the replacement could well be faulty, you must change it !

I've also had two phones now from onestop. Both S/N's started HT344D126??? They both buzzed mildly. I only wish somebody would find the reason for the fault. My guess is that it is software as the fault is presented through both the speaker and the headphones.

I also noticed two other things: 1) If you use speakerphone (press and hold green handset symbol mid-call) it doesnt buzz. 2) MP3 played using media player dont buzz.

Does anyone else with a faulty handset agree with the above. Im now deciding whether its worth sending my E200 back for a second time or just cutting my losses, especially as no-one at onestop or Orange is interested in compensating me for the two weeks i've been paying for a contract I cant use!

ajbrunt....

I agree totally with you. Mine only buzzes when using the earpiece, but not when using speakerphone / MP3s - this is odd as it is physically the same speaker in all cases.

Also, you must keep on at them ! ... the bottom line for me is that they cannot sell a phone that is not actually suitable for making and recieving phone calls !!!!!! The audo is so poor at times it is undecipherable.

I am sure they can fix this with a software update.. even if it is only to lower the bass on calls... but I am totally unwilling to run the risk of losing my 28 day period if this update is still months off !

I think I would rather go for the SPV in a years time, and this time be sure not to be one of the first to buy it, and make sure that everyone else was 100% pleased with it first !

... a year is a long time to be stuck with a phone that you do not like after all.

how come everybody at orange and onestopphoneshop seem unaware of the buzzing issues with the e200???

ive had enough of onestopphoneshop so have cancelled my insurance with them (ive just put a letter in the post), even though i havent yet received any paperwork from them.

and ive taken out orange care and once thats set up they will happily dispatch a replacement to me.

the three months free insurance with onestop just isnt worth the hassle involved with dealing with them.

without orange care Orange ask you to contact the people you brought the phone from as they have to honour the 28 day warranty on the phone.

I suppose Orange are working out what a product recall would cost them. They may also be working on a software fix. In either case its in their interest to keep quiet about it for now!

Paddyspatch - I have also cancelled my "free" insurance from onestop. It really is too much hassle and involving a third party doesnt work. I also got a letter charging me for technical support at £6.99 which I didnt order. :x Im also getting Orange Care instead even though you have to sign up for 12 months!

Well my 3rd E200 is on its way tomorrow. This time only the Handset is being replaced, told to keep the battery, charger etc. It's still within the 28 day warranty period and the handset is brand new. Will it or won't it Buzz. :?

My second one came in a brand new E200 box with cradle etc. O assure me that it is a brand new handset and they would waive the £15 charge! Didn't realise I would have to pay a charge for a faulty handset.

Mind you if anyone else wants to try this...The diagnostic process, before replacement, involved me removing the battery and cleaning the contacts of the battery and phone with a eraser. If that didn't work I was to do a hard reset.
