Guest JampoTT Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 Not sure if anyone else has experienced this yet - but I've had it about 4 or 5 times in the last week and its getting VERY annoying. I'm working away from home, so use the E200 to collect mail. Just from 1 email account at present. My habit (and was the same on my original SPV) is to do a "SEND AND RECEIVE" (just headers only) - then delete the headers for which I didn't want to read (spam etc). Do ANOTHER send and receive to delete from the server, and THEN mark and download the few mails that are urgent and important. This caused no problems on my SPV..... But on the E200, its a different story. Following the process above, I then try and open a downloaded message (say from my boss) only for it to bring up the body of a completely different email message! (eg one 2 mails down the list). So I've switched to downloading first before deleting anything but I STILL get the same problem. The e200 isn't associating the correct headers with the correct bodies all the time..... Any ideas?
Guest Leo_dee Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 You are not alone in this problem, it happens to me all the time. Now I have to make sure that I dont delete anything but just download the items I actually want to read. Very annoying, Ive lost a few emails this way!
Guest JampoTT Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 Do you have a desktop computer somewhere with (say) a Broadband connection that is also polling for mail? Its the only external cause I can think of - the e200 checks for mail and gets headers, but in the meantime my desktop has deleted a couple of known spam off the server (its set to leave on for days unless deleted permanently by the desktop or e200)... But as this was the setup with my SPV as well, I think it unlikely....
Guest Leo_dee Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 No my mail does not work like that - its the phone thats the problem! ](*,)
Guest alanclose Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 No my mail does not work like that - its the phone thats the problem! ](*,) I had this for the first time this morning - downloaded 20 e-mail headers, deleted the junk and downloaded the messages I wanted - when the download was finished the messages did not relate to the headers and instead of getting the messages I wanted I got spam. Very frustrating - has anyone phoned Orange about this yet?
Guest Leo_dee Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 Not spoken to Orange. I also use Popcorn to pick up mail from time to time. That program has the same sort of bug so I think it must be the way POP3's work with downloaded headers.

Not so sure - It never happened in a year of using the SPV - now it pops up in my first full week of using the e200
Guest mutleyboy Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 anyone know if this happens with the mpx200 or is it just the e200 and smartphone2003?
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 Guessing its just E-200. The MPx should have NO bugs - Moto have had a year to get the bugs drilled out of it. Then again, HTC have had a year with the E-200 and look what happened

Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 Thats what I meant lol
Guest Gnuig Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 Thats what I meant lol  I know  I was agree-ing with you, m8  I still feel the e200 can become a great phone if all the bugs can be fixed. Just read about the e-mail one (inbox, deletes... with wrong headings). Yikes, not a good one, as I could see myself doing this. Anyway, I guess I need to update my sig, as I no longer have a smartphone... Mr. O has it returned  L8R.
Guest wahblow Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 I have this problem also. On the old SPV when you 'mark for download', you have to initiate another send/receive. On the E200 it starts to download immediately. This is good if you only have 1 email, but if you have more than one it's gets confused and downloads the wrongs emails. at the moment I am downloading one at a time which is rubbish, but I emailed orange, so they are aware. Hopefully they will add it to a much needed update
Guest wahblow Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 I received a call from orange today. The guy was very helpful but he didn't really know how to help. He suggested I set up text alerts for my email cos I use the orange service and set to download entire message, not just the headers. This doesn't help those with non orange email, and doesn't help me cos I don't want to download every email in full. I might be wrong but I got the impression that orange had not had many complaints about this. I suggest everyone fill in the Technical Queriy forms on the orange website or better still call 156.
