Guest hp324 Posted December 3, 2003 Report Posted December 3, 2003 I keep receiving this error message it keeps poppin up all over the palce and I cant seem to find a way to get rid of it. I uninstalled World off line using add/remove programs, deleted any startup shortcuts, deleted the entire sunnysoft folder, and deleted any sunnysoft registry keys. I have run out of ideas and I would really like to stop this. it is very annoying. Has anyone else had this problem? TIA
Guest rahulp Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 I have the same problem. Does anyone have a solution to this? Its really annoying!
Guest Tomas Kocanda Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 What about to write e-mail to Sunnysoft? [email protected].
Guest Coucou Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 I hate to say it but I had this problem and it only went after a hard reset. I didn't do it for that reason, but it was the only thing to clear it.
Guest rahulp Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 What about to write e-mail to Sunnysoft? [email protected]. I tried that. I got no response from them. Nice company, they leave thier crap on your phone when you try their products and can't be bothered to tell anyone how to remove it.
Guest James Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 have you tried changing the home screen.? might be a plugin thing. just a thought Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest rahulp Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 yup, tried chaging the homescreen for other reasons, but that had no effect.
Guest rh0926 Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 I had the same problem and e-mailed SunnySoft. Here is their reply: Hello, we know about the problem but currently there ain't nobody who could correct it. If customers contact us we send them registration information to register the product and then either uninstall it or use it as a small satisfaction for the problem. Product: World off-line SPE 1.4 Reg. name: My Name Reg. key: XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX The problem is that Smartphone OS has locked Registry and sometime it happens that the uninstall is not able to remove information from it. We will work on it when we have a free programmer Regards Ladislav Kriz Sunnysoft The kicker is that I registered the software and then uninstalled it. I STILL GET THE SAME ERROR. Thanks SunnySoft for a piece of crap I can't rid my phone of! Thanks for making sure that a Hard Reset is the only option. Thanks for all of the wasted time re-installing the several good, tested apps that other reputable companies release and support! Funny, no other company I've dealt with has problems with the Smartphone 'locked' registry. By the way, I'm working with an MPx200 on the US AT&T Wireless network.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 there ain't nobody who could correct Nice to know they do not seem interested in supporting their customers at all.
Guest rh0926 Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 For all of the programmers out there..... Can somebody develop an exe file that does absolutely nothing? That way, I will rename it WOL.EXE and place it where it needs to be for this damn error. I'm hoping that it will find and execute the fake file and no longer be a problem. I just can't find it in my heart to do a Hard Reset! Thanks for any help anybody can lend.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 This may be a stupid question but is there anything in your IPSM/Windows/Startup folder???
Guest edgecrush3r Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 Check the registry for any "WOL.EXE" it might be still MARKED as Service somewhere.. If you find it DEL it.
Guest rh0926 Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Thanks for the assistance folks. I've searched the registry using the PHM Registry Editor. It finds a key for Sunnysoft at: HKCUSoftwareSunnySoft but nothing for WOL.EXE. I deleted the values contained in the key, and then was able to delete the key after restarting the phone. There's nothing but the GPRS traffic monitor in the IPSM/Windows/Startup folder. I'll try Activesyncing later today and let you know if I still get the errors. I'ver tried searching the registry on my PC for WOL.EXE or Sunnysoft, but it's not found there either.
Guest badboy4life Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Have u looked at the values under HKLMinit , maybe a launch variable?
Guest edgecrush3r Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 You also may need to search for "WOL.EXE" as a value if you didnt do it yet. Also check IPSMWindowsStartUp folder for any services starting
Guest rh0926 Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Well, finally did a hard reset. Whatever SunnySoft did, it buried the link to wol.exe so far down that a reset was the only option. Probably not a bad thing to do a hard reset every few months anyway. I find my phone is much faster and it's not as bogged down by all of the junk I loaded over the last 6 months.
