After owning the SPV100, SPV200, I tried the MPX200. What a beauty. It is so responsive, a joy to hold and use and best of all 3 days of useful battery life. It may not have Bluetooth or a camera and it is only smartphone 2002, but this phone really rocks

I have not really been a Moto fan up until now but wow what a phone. Anyone looking for a good reliable smartphone need look no further. I would place an order for the MPX220 already, if I could.

I have an original SPV and I will not get another phone unless it has WM2003, built in camera, and bluetooth. I was going to get the E200, but I may wait for Motos new one with these three additional things I am wanting (in hopes that the rumours of their new phone is true of course)....

But... one question I have, is... How is the RF reception in the Moto vs. SPV, E100, and/or E200?? Anyone have any opinions? My SPV really doesn't have the best reception compared to other phones...

I like the phone but having owned it for a week or so have some fears re the windows OS. I upgraded by T68i to the MXP200 at my local orange shop last week. All went well for a few days until at work when i rx'd a call, the phone was in my pocket and i didnt want to answer it. So i tried to do what is said in the book and press the volume switch twice to stop the call. Success it stopped ringing, however later when i tried to use the phone the screen had frozen and not one button worked, it was totally locked out (i had the key lock on at the time) In desperation i took the battery off, and then on to try and re boot it. but no it would not start up properly only going to the moto start screen with the plant things and no further :x despite trying everything i could think the phone would not start up again so i took it back to the shop and got it replaced under the 28 day return warranty. Ive had the new one a few days a cant help but fear it will also lock up  i dont bother with the key lock feature just in case that caused any probs, has anyone else had similar probs ??

I have the original SPV, and it locks up for no reason the same as your MPX200, and only cure is to remove the battery.

The worst thing is that when this happens at the same time you receive SMS text messages, you will lose all the unread messages and will never know who it was that was texting you ! ( A good way to lose friends)

For this reason alone, I will probably never buy another MS Smartphone, and have gone back to my old Nokia 7110 until at least the 1.61 update, if it ever surfaces.

Yoos,

I have not tested the reception one after the other, but in my opinion the MPX does seem slightly better and the call quality compared to the 200 is much better.

I am so impressed with this little phone and have had no lockups or any problems of any kind. The the battery life is also getting better. I hope to get 4 days this time.

Buy it and try it, you will not be disappointed

Actually, MPx 200 is not a Moto's work.

It is ODM by Chi Mei Electronic, a Taiwan manufacture.

Chi-mei originally planned to design, manufacture, and market the phone all by itself. However, it turns out that selling the desing to Moto and also manufacturing for Moto is a win-win situation. If Chi-mei marketed the phone by itself like Mitac does, this baby will be hard to find like Mio 8380 is.

Many of the smart phoes you'll see in the Future are from these Taiwanese companies such as Mitac, Asus, Benq, DBTEL, OKWAP, Chi-mei and etc. Never heard about them bofore, right? Sadly, you'll never. They can't market their products outside Taiwan due to the lack of brand recognotion. Well, maybe except Benq.

While Nokia still desing and manufacture its phones, Moto has outsourced most of those functions to Asian companies. The same situation happens to laptops and PPCs. For instance, Axim is of course not a Dell's work. When I see the Dell's TV commercial saying how Dell's engineers working so hard to desing the best products, I wonder how many of Dell's products are actually desinged by its own engineers? I'm not saying it is a bad thing. On the contrary, I do believe that having the 3rd parties to do the desings more efficiently and effectively is a good and valid strategy.

The job Moto did was buying the right design...nothing more...considering that even the OS is from M$...

However, thanks to Moto, we can all have MPx200 in U.S. at a very reasonable price.

Thanks for the info broughs! I'll hold off for the newer moto that has WM2003, bluetooth, and built in camera (hopefully it does come out, and soon...)
