Guest peligoni Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 When running PIE click on Menu/Options and then choose 'Connections'. Check that the 'Select network' choice (typically 'The Internet') matches the setting under Start/Settings/Data Connections which when connectioned via BT should offer 'Pass through connection'. as the suitable choice. Also check Activesync on the desktop, in the Tools/Options/Rules panel that Pass Through again matches (typically 'The Internet') what the phone would be using. HTH
Guest razorhazor Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 Do you have the Orange SPV e200? If so, how did you sync it via bluetooth?
Guest peligoni Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 Sync'ing is 'fairly' straightforward...assuming you have a working BT installatiion on the desktop PC ie. you can browse and see your phone on whatever interface your BT software gives you. You would need to switch your Bluetooth on your phone to Discoverable setting for it to be located in this way. From the BT software on the PC you usually need to right-click the icon that represents your Smarphone device and select the option to Pair/Bond/Trust the Smarphone entry on the device. You need to enter a 4 digit number e.g. 0000 and then the phone will prompt you to enter the same number and a name for the bonded connection. Once you are happy the PC and the Smarphone are bonded you need to determine the virtual COM port that the BT installation has created for a serial connection. Look first for a suitable properties dialog in your BT software or look in the Windows Device Manager for a further clue. Mine setting has nearly always been either COM 3 or 4 but it could be anything up to 9 in reality. Armed with the COM port open up Activesync on the PC and make sure its connection settings make it listen on the relevant COM port. Then from the phone open up ActiveSync and select the Menu/Connection via Bluetooth option. Hopefully, if all is setup correctly ActiveSync on the desktop should react to the phone connecting. If it doesn't go that smoothly the problems are typically getting the wrong COM port or the more basic problem of the BT software not being cleanly installed (i.e follow the order of installation recommended in the BT adapter settings). Once all that is working you can move onto making use of a Pass-through connection and using the Internet connection you have on your PC from the phone. HTH
