requesting for a simple homescreen for smartphone that can make a pic display in FULLSCREEN,

blank desktop: no time, no signal bars or any plug-ins. preferrably dark color, also when creating a new message: background dark and letters light color.

purpose: to have a clean main desktop so when pic is displayed it will be shown in FULL SCREEN.

hope there is a way also to get rid of the bottom menus: programs and contacts.

thanks for the help kindly email:

I'm not an xml editor but you could start with the basic light text / basic dark text skins posted on this site by Mark G James (if I remember right..)

They're under a thread entitled "Simple Skin (Ideal for Celeb Images) etc" in Customisation / Discussion

Here you go.....ive done 4 simple home screens for you..

2 with nothing on except for the two buttons which i dont think you can get rid of...so ive made a light version and a dark version so you can change it depending on the colour of the image.

The other two are what i use...very simple with small text setup so that I can view the background whilst having the necessary info on screen.

Ive also included a whole bunch of my fave actresses/singers etc...nothing smutty...just nice pix

just drop the whole lot of em into

IPSMApplication DataHome

and away you go.....

hope its what you are after....

Cheers,

i could have sworn the idea of the homescreen was to provide information

what use is a homescreen with no battery/signal indicators? hwo do you know if you have any email/sms? how do you know how much battery you have left? how do you know what signal strength you have? all essential to a phone if you ask me, and pretty useless without them :D

oh well, each to their own i suppose

if thats what people want then thats what they get....not exactly useful i know....but then not exactly hard to do.. :-)

thanks deemon btw i also already made my own stuff by experimenting.

& regarding the signal indicators: msg / batt or signal strength - are shown when u press the softkey (programs) or "unlock" if ur phone is locked - its in the upper area.

- well thats how we do it coz its cool to have a fullscreen pic & its one of the advantages of the spv compared to other phones which cant do fullscreen on the desktop.

hope some1 finds a way to get rid of those programs and contacts menu buttons.. anyone?

oh, i'm not arguing with you, if thats how you like it fair enough, all i'm saying is a vast majority of people prefer to have as much info as possible on the homescreen (in fact i'd say that single page homescreens are much more popular than multipage homescreens) people want to glance at the phone for texts, time, date, appointments, profile, and be able to select recent apps, thats why all my homescreens now tend to follow the same format, its one that people seem to prefer.

One thing you may like is a multipage homescreen, where the first page is blank, and the second page (accessed by just pushing down on the joystick/dpad) then shows all the standard info, then you have the best of both worlds.

very true...thats a good idea...i might add the second info page

The reason why i choose a very simple home screen is because if i use complicaed homescreen my physical memory becomes very low.

As an obsessive compulsive I have to change my background at least once a day

Most of the info displayed on the homescreen is superfluous to me unless I've got appointments but, not using the phone for work, they aren't that important.

Midnight's multi-screen suggestion is however spot-on. Any takers ?

i can add all the info to a second page if that would be helpful

so first screen would either be blank or just have the signal and battery meter for your image and the second page will have everything else

I'd love it

With the MRU on the second screen ?

that shouldnt affect your physical memory too much, homescreens (unless using custom plugins made by other developers) do not use much physical memory at all, and most certainly do not affect phone performance.

Hi Guys,

I am not that into programming. I do not usually encounter xmls, but I would like to create my own homescreen.

It would sound a stupid question...but where do I put the picture in the xml samples in the first page?

Thanks for your patience.

Hi again,

I meant putting the pictures in the xml files. I do not know which part of the xml file I should put the link for the pic

thanks again.

PS. I am trying to learn from the blank xmls to put my own homescreen together
