Guest D33 Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Seems like Orange won't be doing the E200 on pay as you go so I'm forced to go onto contract. After browing the Orange website and trying multiple plans I seem to of worked out it's near impossible to get the phone for under 400 quid for the first year. However, thought I'd check with you lot to see if there is a way.
Guest HurricaneDave Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 :D cheapest i could find was £34.99 for the phone and £30 per month rental = £394.99   well its less than £400  http://www.e2save.com/e2001/php/matrix/dis...&handset=SPV200
Guest D33 Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 I dunno if I can bring myself to pay 400 quid for a phone yet I really want the E200. Hell I thought I'd be a sad git for playing 300 :/ God dammit.
Guest Pondrew Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 D33, remember you could get the phone for the £34.99 and after 4months you can change the monthly rental to a cheaper plan without penalty. It need not cost as much 394.99 if you can live with less free minutes and keep gprs/text/mms use to a minimum...
Guest HurricaneDave Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 ahh yes i forgot about that,,dont change it before the 4 months though or they charge you to make the shortfall
Guest Vector Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 D33, remember you could get the phone for the £34.99 and after 4months you can change the monthly rental to a cheaper plan without penalty. I bought that plan and phone from onestopphoneshop and after 4 months i plan to change down to a cheaper contract
Guest scottt Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 www.fones4free.com Free handset + 4months @£30 = £120 + 8months @£15 = £120 =£240 then take off cashback £100 = £140
Guest PsychoDave Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 AFAIK the cashback is just on the Talk 400 plan which is £50 p/m but £240 is still pretty good for an E200 plus you've got all those free texts to annoy your mates with
Guest D33 Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 wtf.. Can someone tell me more about this apparent four month rule ? Does this apply to anything ? Why four months ? So let me get this clear, if I went to : http://www.onestopphoneshop.co.uk Bought the Orange SPV E200 on YourPlan 300. ( phone £34.99 / monthly rental £30.00 ) Then after four months ( say four months and one week ) I changed to : Pay £15.00 for the remaining eight months. Then at the end of the 12 months I own the phone ? Bringing a total cost of £275.00 for the first year ?
Guest HurricaneDave Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 correct..i have done this a few times over the years  i think different operators have different time limits but in orange after 4 months you can drop to the lowest tarrif an orange cant do a thing about it
Guest D33 Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 omg, WHY DIDN'T YOU PEOPLE TELL ME ABOUT THIS EARLIER ! lol, nice one tanagerdave.
Guest scottt Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 If you buy your phone from Orange you only have to stay on the plan for the first month, this is why you can get most phones cheaper else where but have to stay on the plan for longer. And if you get some one to recomend you to Orange you get £50 of your first bill and they get £25 off their bill (think it must be a dec promo)
Guest D33 Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 btw, do you get a cradle from these guys ?
Guest Pondrew Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 btw, do you get a cradle from these guys ? Yeah you get the same E200 + accesories (charger, mains converter, cradle, 8meg SD card, etc) as all the other sellers. Only differences I'm aware of are: Orange shops - include 32meg mm card fones4free.com - include free bag of Minstrals (!?)
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 HTC Voyager (E200) SIM free and unlocked for around £300? Watch this space... ;-) P
Guest nato Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 I was an existing customer, paying £25 per month, and after ringing www.fones4free.co.uk who offered me an e200 for £30 a month (the handset of course free! as you'd expect !), rang orange and told them this, who immediately offered me an e200 for the same tarriff (£25) per month AND THE HANDSET FOC !! Received the handset...And I have to say bloody badword' marvellous ! A few bugs....but...oh well....this is Microsoft ! Roll on SPV running LINUX !
Guest D33 Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 Funny that as this year Linux had more reports and findings of bugs and problems than Microsoft. *cough* bandwagon *splutter*
Guest JoelRae Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 Yeah you get the same E200 + accesories (charger, mains converter, cradle, 8meg SD card, etc) as all the other sellers. I thought it was mentioned somewhere that O only made 2000 or so 32mb mmc, i.e. they didn't intend to ship them with EVERY phone, just those bought early??
Guest Pondrew Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 I thought it was mentioned somewhere that O only made 2000 or so 32mb mmc, i.e. they didn't intend to ship them with EVERY phone, just those bought early?? Ah. No wonder I couldn't talk the guy in the local Orange shop to give me one. And there was me thinking it was just cos I bought from onestop rather then Orange direct...
