GOOD NEWS FROM HAYES ABOUT DUST UNDER SCREEN

I phoned up orange (UK) yesterday to ask if dust under the screen of my SPV would be covered by my warrenty. I was told that it wasn't, as it is a cosmetic (wear and tear) problem.

I was a bit angry about this, so I phoned up Hayes (the company that would be repairing it) - they said they would repair it as part of the warrenty. I'll have to let you know what happens when I send it off, but if the person I spoke to is correct this sounds like good news.

is it just the canary that gets dust under the screen (never noticed it on mine) and have had my e100 for a while and theres no dust under that so i am assuming that they fixed the problem on the e100 ??

Not sure if it has been totally fixed on the e100 and newer but personally I have not encountered dust on any of my numerous Tanager variants or my e200.

it should be covered by insurance... i mean, if the dust gets so bad that you cant see the screen than surely its your right to get a replacement... or if that still doesnt cut it with orange... then i suggest you "accidently" drop it.. .. its covered if you do that !

Thanks for the reply, only I don't have insurance - I presume the warrenty should cover it at least for repair though if not a replacement. I've sent off my SPV now with a 3 page letter of faults (in addition to the dust problem), so hopefully they'll just send me a replacement, because if they just send me a new SPV then I expect I will encounter all the same problems.

By the way, I phoned up Hayes again today who told me that if there was any damage on the phone that was caused by myself, then I would have to pay for the repair. I don't believe there is, but I'll post a message when I get the phone back or a replacement.
