Guest sgray Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Hiya, just got my mpx200 this morning, and been playing about with it.. just got a few questions for you seasoned users: 1.. activesync doesn't seem to have an option for file transfer. how can i get images, etc on and off the phone? 2.. how can i change the back ground wall paper? 3.. how can i change the icons on the homepage to have apps/links that i really want? other than that im kinda impressed =)
Guest Bonzo Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 OK well lets see if we can't get U the info U want  1. to transfer files too and from the phone just open ActiveSync and click on the 'Explore' tab then double click on the 'Mobile Device' icon in the window that appears and U then have access to the memory areas of your phone... Windows being the ROM, (anything placed in here will not survive switching the phone off/onn), IPSM being the storage section of the phone, the root directory being the RAM, (again this is refreshed with each off/onn action), and storage card being the storage card :D 2 Changing background images is easy... on the phone go to Programs/Settings/Home Screen and then U will see the background image selection box... Images need to be stored in the IPSM/Application Data/Home folder on the phone 3 This is a more tricky issue... it means editing the registry which means U need to application unlock the phone, (See here for how), to do it & then insall a registry editor program such as PHM registry editor and then the best thing I can say is to click here and check out Midnights excellent tweaks for how to achieve what U want to do Hope this helps :)
Guest sgray Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Bonzo.. Thanks for the tips.. made a lot of sense.. will investigate those threads =) One more thing. I set up my phone to do email over activesync, which im starting to think was not such a clever idea (ie: the email is now useless when i am not connected to the pc) Can I revert to having POP/SMTP mail??
Guest Bonzo Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 I don't sync my e-mail... don't really have any need to as I just need the phone to check my mail when I'm not around & then I can delete or keep mails on the server as necassary for when I log on back at home... but if I read U right yeah it's easy enough... open ActiveSync, click on the options tab and just de-select the Inbox icon & that will stop your phone synchonising your mail when it's in the cradle
Guest sgray Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 i did that, but it didnt remove all the stuff thats on the phone, and i cant get in to the email settings options.. the phone just ignores me. is it worth re setting the phone and starting over again?!?
Guest Bonzo Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Not sure why it should be doing that :? I'd just try turning it off removing the battery then turning it on again first before U go down the road of a hard reset!
Guest sgray Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 i tried what u said, didnt make a bit of difference, so i decided to hard reset it. i wiped the flash and it formated itself. it takes a while (and got me quite scared) but i've defaulted the phone and going to have another bash from the start... just need to re-create the programme list now..!
Guest Bonzo Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Yeah I know it can be a little worrying the first time U do a hard reset :D but hey U should be fine from there tho... if not U know where to come for help... there's always plenty of people with the will & knowledge to help others out here
