Guest getwired Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Just ranting here, but obviously, whomever designed the record/jog control on this phone never used it. I really like making calls from a voice tag (used it on my v60 all of the time), but on the MPx200, I'd say that my chances of me pressing straight down on the jog to tell the phone that I want to say a name and NOT have it think that I want to modify the volume is at about 98%. AND in order to get that 2% to work, I must lay the phone on the table and make an extreme effort to press the button in straight. That's not exactly an option when in the car or walking around. I am very dissapointed. If you like this feature on your existing phone, I would not switch to the MPx200. :x
Guest nobody Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 Agreed 100%. Maybe 1 out of 100 times that I can get the actual record button working. I thought it was just me!
Guest avrguru Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 Agreed 100%. Maybe 1 out of 100 times that I can get the actual record button working. I thought it was just me! Is there perhaps a software solution to this problem? I have exactly the same scenario. Is there another way to activate voice tags for dialing? I couldn't find one... :?
Guest abatis Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 I have found that if I position thumb nail on the top lip of the dial and press down and straight in simultaneuosly I get voice 9 out of 10 times. No where near as slick as my Seimen S-46 that had a dedicated button on the side for voice tags.
Guest grossygrossy Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 I have found a way to get a better percentage. Try putting your entire finger over the toggle and push straight in - then hold it there. This seems to wrok for me.
Guest DJHope Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 yeh i usually get it 9 out of 10 times if i push in a slightly upwards (i mean towards the screen not up on the jog dial) DJ Hope
Guest Isa Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 I haven't got any problems getting to the voice function when I'm holding the phone, but don't seem to be able to get there when it's in the car cradle... a bit annoying really
Guest alphaflux Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 Definately a feature for people with smaller fingers. I've found that after a bit of practice I can get it most of the time. Also it seems if you do get the earpiece volume dialog, you can just press the key towards the center and it will switch over to the record dialog (as long as you don't let go of the button when the volume dialog appears). At least that works for me. Alphaflux.
Guest scott2eyes Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 I think a smart idea would be to swap the functionality of the jog button with the speakerphone button. (If any coders out there want to give it a go, make the jog switch scroll through text while you're at it!)
Guest equis Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 You know what I was extremely mad when I kept trying to use it, the problem is not with your finger but with the software. For me I have to press the back button all the way back to the homescreen and out of any programs that are running in the background then press the jog dial in, then it works flawlessly. That is just too much of a hassle and don't plan on using the record unless I look for it in the menu.
Guest actionj Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 Obviously the jog button needs major work and it's hard to use for voice tags, and you can't even use it for menus and navigation which is ridiculous. Everyone needs to complain about it at the motorola site so they release a firmware upgrade sometime soon
Guest Slyder Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 Isn't there some programing GURU who can simply make a small program that we can place in the menu bar to depress this button for us?
Guest gasmith Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 I have a work-around for the problem. I created a speed dial (#9) and set it to the Voice Recorder application. Now when I want to start the recorder, I just hold down #9 on the key pad. 1. Find Voice Records in the program list 2. Select menu 3. Select Add Speed Dial 4. Set the desired speed dial button.
Guest mcwarre Posted January 8, 2004 Report Posted January 8, 2004 That works for the voice recorder but not for the voice tags to allow voice dial.
Guest CamperBoy Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 Not that I know anything, but I've looked at all the files I can find in the windows directory and other folders but can't find the voice dial thing, it must be part of the contacts program itself?? We need an expert on the case here!! A simple problem for Modaco surely!
Guest mardig Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 There is an easy solution to this problem, I stumbled across it and it can solve your problems. The problem is not keeping the jog dial centered whle pushing it is that you are not pushing it hard enough. Give it a hard push and hold, it works every time. I use my thumb nail.
